Not to be a downer but the navi is weak. How can a cars nav even compete with google navigation? It can't, and it shows. It lags. If you are a techy person, you will know what I mean.

I guess I was comparing it to the last generations navi when I made it sound so good

Unrelated to nav', but since you're a dealer, I was wondering if Subarus get delivered to dealerships on the weekends?

I'm worried that this is going to become a common issue. Hopefully dealers will do-right by their customers in one way or another. Good news is that there are some decent alternatives to the OEM STS.

Called SoA yesterday when they asked for a Von and I said I was told by my dealer that he had no idea what a Von was, the SoA guy says that's interesting and he was going to make some calls and get back to me Monday or Tuesday. I ordered on 7/26 limited with nav not expecting an early to mid October eta but would be quite the news.

The old system was DVD based and you had to buy new discs for a lot of money to update for new additions to the maps. You also had to switch discs for the 3 different regions of the country if you traveled...The new one has a SD card that you can pop out and plug into a PC to download updates for free.

The new one has the option of a few bucks a month for live trafic as well.

I haven't played with the new one myself very much, but the sales team tells me it also is much easier to navigate (pun intende) through the different prompts, and that the blue tooth integration is much better. The blue tooth system imports your contacts much better than the other one. There is SMS text notification and abilities as well.

The old system did not come with a USB port in the car, it came with the goofy red/white/yellow plugs (technical term ). The new one has a USB.

I am not super techy so I apologize if this is not detailed enough, or I am sounding stupid .

I am not liking it as much in some cases and do like it more in others. The map doesn't respond as quick when turning and that annoys me. It takes 4 times longer to make a voice activated call than previous. I like the older system the way it shows POIs. With the logos of the companies, and it shows on the screen. The new one takes you away from the map, takes 2 minutes to look up what you asked for, then shows them in a list instead of on the map. Sucks.

I do like downloading the phonebook and the potential for the SD card. I like how you can load personal pictures also. I'd have to play with the destination entry part of it some more before I got used to it, but right now, I'd prefer to stop and manual add it(old system) than mess with the voice commands of the new system.

I have customers that don't like it either.

The only thing I ask is to shut that woman up.
"Voice command please"
handsfree
"handsfree"
"Voice command please"
Call dad
"Did you say "call John"?

NO I SAID CALL DAD!!
Now I have to start over!!!!!

Depends on the dealer kinda. We are open and will take deliveries. Some dealers don't(according to what a driver told me once), so the drivers may not try to.

Now, we take the deliveries but don't have mechanics on the weekends so they can't get PDI'd. So, all you get to do is look at the car, which is better than not having it at all.

If you ordered it port installed, look at your window sticker. I HIGHLY doubt that it would be on the sticker and not on the car.

That. Plus I don't think that the height actually changes on the OEM upgrades, just the aftermarket ones...

Yeah I have not had much on road experience myself. I was just rambling off the talking points from training materials, and feedback from my sales team and customers.

I have always hated that woman on all of the bluetooth/navi cars....lmao

After years away from Subarus, I'm back with a 2013 base WRX sedan in silver. Picked it up today for $2000 under MSRP and loving my new scooby.

If anyone is wondering, I can confirm on the 2013 sti limited that the red interior ambient lighting is not longer an option. It's standard .

I think its supposed to be standard on STIs in general... and then an options on the WRXs.
