It is coming together nicely. Once the Tigwerks build is finished I can fit the engine and build the mounts into the frame. Then its tube bending time. Stay tuned.

How is this build coming along? I have a turbo vw powered manx and have been contemplating doing a swap for a few years now.

We should be showing the new header/turbo/intercooler/intake manifold in the next couple weeks. It will be very nice. But until it is done the rest of the car chassis is on hold until we can test fit the engine/transmission. The wait is at the painful stage now...

I will be using a front mounted purpose built Griffin radiator to AN20 hoses to aluminum tubing running down the right side to AN20 hoses to water pump and water manifold. I am looking at either venting through side wheel wells and/or through hood like Porsche 996RSR. After I cut the hole for the center fill gas cap I probably will feel easier about cutting vents. It will depend also on what we have once Mendeola front suspension is welded on. Hoping that will be next week.

Started pulling out the different systems and checking what is needed like hoses, bolts etc.
Did Steering and Brakes today. Porsche 997 GT3RSR right hand drive TRW power steering flipped over for rear arm front spindles (Porsche are front arms), RSR Momo Steering wheel, RSR TRW electric power steering pump, Rennline Steering wheel quick release Last edited by RSti_Spyder; 08-16-2012 at 11:34 PM. |

And the brake system.
Ordering the AN fittings and hoses is crazy expensive. Using all Startlite for cooling and oil hoses and wow what a bill so far. |

Ciper you planted a seed. After we spent many hours on the phone talking with Bell about Air to Air intercoolers, I agreed with them to use a Water to Air intercooler. So dial a few more delays into the system, but I think it will be awesome. Kelly is working away on an ever changing system where he is shipping almost as many unused parts back as we are using. So as it stands now it is the great 935 style header to the Blouch 20G-xtr, direct into the water intercooler, direct into the Boomba throttle body on the heavily modified reversed STi manifold. Please let this happen soon as everything else now waits on the fitting of the engine and trans to build the chassis/cage. The thoughts are to have two side mounted intercooler coolant radiators like on the Ariel Atom 500.

Tigwerks sent me these shots of the turbo outlet to V Band flange. Blouch 20g-xtr is SwainTech White Lightning ceramic coated on the hot section.
Hopefully more pictures soon... |

Looks awesome dude. I like what Tigwerks does. Always nice pieces. I wished i welded stainless more often. Almost all my tig is aluminum, chrome-moly, and a little mild steel.

Kelly is very good with a Tig and he also understands the problems with making a one off system and the constant changes we go through. I always joke that the Mark 1 is OK but the Mark 2 or Mark 3 is much much better. We are up to Mk3 on most parts and haven't finished building one system yet. Learn as we go...

Tires mounted on TR Motorsport rims. TR is Tire Rack and last fall they closed these out for a set of four forged rims shipped for under $300. !!
Falken Azenis RT-615K tires, front 275/35R18 on a 10 inch rim and the rear 315/30R18 on a 12 inch rim. A lot of good deals have helped me build this car. It's a Franken-Steeen (cue Gene Wilder) of bits and pieces... |

Patrick they sold the fronts, which are Porsche rears, for $49 each! And the rears for $79 each! As Damon at Tire Rack said we are selling what were $500 wheels for about the price of the aluminum. As far as I know he only posted the sale on Rennlist.
Kelly I think we are OK for now, but you see why I added electric power steering... |

Maybe this weekend can provide time for great progress...
WRXChops I could not think of a better marriage. When you look at the STi engine one gets the feeling Porsche Design has already been there! |
