Post Cold starting

I got really cold here yesterday, and this morning when I tried to start my car, it turned over, then died. Started it again, and it ran, but the idle was over 2500 RPM! went down to normal after about 5 minutes in traffic, but 2500? jeez... happen to anyone else? no engine mods at all btw... 2000 RS

it was the EFI doing that.....all it was doing was trying to warm up the engine. kinda like the choke on a carb. car. its nothing to worry about !!!!!

Did that once. Engine died on me 1 second after I started, then restarted and went straight to 2000+ rpm for a few sec and came back down. I heard German cars do that also to get rid of HC in the exhaust system. In my old 89 Accord DX (carbulated), the choke system went nuts or something one day, and it idled at 3500 rpm for more than 20 minutes, then came back down. I know it idled high because I was stuck in a traffic jam for more than 30 minutes. What a waste of gas.

my jeep does that. my rs never did that though. it has gone to 2k after a stall. but only for a few seconds.
use my philosophy: if it only happens once, it was a fluke.

car usually idles around or below 1k, and I wasn't particularly worried, it was just something odd. cruising speed RPM at idle doesn't seem right to me. It went down after the engine was warm(or at least by the time I got to work)...
