Uppipe Question
Im looking to buy an uppipe but idk if i should spend some extra $$ to get an aftermarket uppipe or a used gutted one. The cat broke on mine and the my company's mechanic replaced it without tellin me $$. I just bought a used turbo so all i need is the uppipe..

I went with the ceramic coated GrimmSpeed. Should read the uppipe FAQ. It gives some good information.

The GrimmSpeed up pipes run from 175ish to mid 300s. Just depends on what you want/need. If you want a basic catless up pipe from them the ceramic coated one runs around 210ish.

If you watch the classifieds here a used catless will run 60ish. I just got one off a 07 STI for my 04 wagon. Better throttle response and sound.

no uppipe needs an egt sensor. the stock egt sensor on the 02 is useless and will eventually destroy your turbo. Best placement for an egt sensor is in the driver's side exhaust manifold.

^This. The purpose of the factory EGT sensor is to monitor the UP cat...since you are removing the cat, there is no need for the sensor.

We offer a IWG and EWG catless uppipe for the 2002. Like others have stated there is no need for the EGT sensor in the uppipe after going to a catless one. You can simply tune the code out or do the resistor mod to it. PM me with any questions, I am happy to help.
