Angry Tuning an 04 4EAT WRX ?

Need help with tuning a 04 WRX with a 4eat...The car is at stage 4 and has a utec system ,but I can't find anyone (tuner) who KNOWS how to get the most out of the mods...I have had people from TXS andf Element look at it and tune some ,but always get stopped by the closed/open loop delay on fuel in the ECU ...I know there is more tha 270 whp in this car and that it can run faster and with more efficiency.....PLEASE ADVISE
BTW I live in Seattle

Maybe PM RiftsWRX. He has a pretty hopped up automatic WRX and he's a tuner that knows UTEC.

Crazymike - I think the issue Seekersix is running into is specific to 4EAT's and UTECs. The problem is, in rough terms from my very limited understanding, the TCU takes over fueling during the shift. This fights with the UTEC's OL/CL switchover. You can end up burning out the clutchpacks if you don't let the TCU control things.

Edit: wait, I read the original post again, and maybe that OL/CL delay is the issue. I'm confused. Seeker -- is the '04 OL/CL delay the issue, or is it the UTEC's handling of fueling versus the TCU?

We need a full mod list too. Don't underestimate the drivetrain loss from the transmission. It's huge. Rather, it's not so much loss, but the transmission will tend to lower your peak WHP and spread it out across the curve. Makes the car faster than the dyno numbers would indicate. At least that's my experience with a modd'ed TC.

Smile 4eat Tune

Yes it is indeed the ol/cl delay from OEM ECU and not the fault of the UTEC
It(UTEC) has been exploited to the edge but still can not over come the ECU
Most recommend to reflash back to the 02 4EAT version ECU (which dosen't seem to have the delay problem ) then retune via the UTEC....That will cost BEAU COUP BUCKS (1 to reflash and 2 to dyno time)

List of Engine mods as follows : Perrin up pipe/down pipe(wrapped) Perrin TMIC with perrin hoses,Perrin front Pully,Perrin short ram w/K&N filter,Perrin turbo inlet hose
Greddy EVO2 exhaust (dpipe back)
HKS headers (4 into 1 wrapped)
STI pink injectors
Walbro Fuel pump
IHI VF35 turbo(ported waste gate & polished)
TXS MBC
KOYO radiator
B&M trans cooler
Level 10 Hi stall TC
TXS UTEC w/remote (stage 4 map)
I hope this helps ,but if not ask me more questions OK?

I hate to thread jack but I just converted my 02 5spd to a 4eat and With the turboxs unit that I have you can not tune. So I have taken it off and running a stock tune. The car is stupid slow right now, bogs, stumbles...blah blah blah.

My question is this. Does anyone have an open source tune that I could dump on my ECU so the car is drivable? Mod list is this:
APS front mount with silicone piping, Greddy type R bov, model DR 725
APS CAI HFA/01
APS exhaust bell, APS hollowed cat, HOE/R2
APS full 3in to axle then 2.5 to muffler.
Stock turbo
Stock fp
stock injectors

How many cel codes are you getting?
And mind you, you shouldn't be driving it that way without a tune.
