Default Difference between '05 Legacy Turbo & Baja Turbo?

Does anyone know the differences between the 250hp 2.5 Turbo in the new Legacy and the 205hp in the Baja Turbos?

Is this a matter of computer tuning, differenent intercooler, different turbo and/or plumbing?

Or is this merely a matter of HP rating to justify pricing tiers between the various models employing the same engine?

I was curious if you could upgrade the Baja Turbo engine to the '05 Legacy spec...

That engine was redisined from ground up according to the master tech here at my delier in Santa Cruz, CA. It has a compleatly different computer, intercooler, turbo, exhaust, etc... That is why it gets more power and more MPG. It also has a mutch lighter and stronger transmission. I don't see why you couldn't do a engine/tranny swap between the 05 legacy gt and the baja turbo.

That's 210 instead of 205,i had heard the same thing. The changes are in the computer, exhaust and they changed the flow angle in the intercooler so its less restrictive for faster boost and i think its bigger. The intake manifold design is different and made of plastic with longer runners.

the Baja turbo's 210 hp is actually underrated. Same engine is in the Forester XT and it made more hp at the wheels than a WRX that has 227 hp on paper.
