Thank you go the link.

It looks the Japanese Foresters will get hybrid engines ( E-boxer) in the standard trim and a 1.8 turbo for the Sport trim.

Oi vey! That wheel turn?! Must be that STI Drift Steering Angle Accessory that nobody asked for! But seriously the tire looks way to skinny and way too pushed out from the car.

A FAT Tire bike has wider tires than this. Love those last gen honda accord ex wheels btw. More YAWN, more breaking record quarters coming for Subaru.

Will the e-boxer engines ever make it to the U.S.?

I think so. It is an easier story for dealers to tell than PHEV, will help Subaru meet CAFE standards, as well as help meet customer's demands for ever improving fuel efficiency.

Unless the Solterra is a hit and they transition faster, but I doubt they will.

How is this different than what we got in the Crosstrek hybrid? Seems the same to me - an electric motor in the transmission.

The 2019+ Crosstrek Hybrid is a PHEV. It is plugged in to recharge and can travel 17 miles of pure EV range.

e-Boxer is a basic hybrid, not PHEV. You cannot plug it in or really drive it in EV mode at speed as it's for power-assist, parking lots, and start/stop. Similar to the 2014-2016 Crosstrek Hybrid.

I don't see any changes in this e-Boxer vs last years.

Got it. So, basically the same from a mechanical standpoint. So... we already have it here, but we have an advanced version that can do some full EV mode. The I read the post, it seemed like this was some new hybrid tech that they just weren't bringing to the US... It's already here, just not in as many vehicles (not in the forester, yet).

It could be brought to the US in Forester and Impreza guise, to increase fuel efficiency in a mild application. That would be 100% new. The hybrid tech itself is supposedly new vs. the 2014-2016 Crosstrek application. Again, this is all different from the current PHEV.

Here's what I wanted to say yesterday, looking at WLTC test figures, on the surface, the eBoxer setup doesn't seem worth the hassle.
Now, we'd have to wait for full WLTP figures from Europe to say for sure.
But, again, on paper, it doesn't look too good for that eBoxer, non-PHEV, hybrid setup.
