My wife and I were on our way back from Tempe this afternoon at about 4. We were taking the left left left from Mill back to 202 East. We came upon a silver STI at the 202 overpass that had been trying to make the turn onto Center Parkway and achieved terminal understeer at an inopportune time.

Curb, cactus, and what appeared to be the remains of a large ceramic pot ensued.

Result = lots of body damage, and at least two of the wheels pointing in directions not normally seen in everyday driving.

Also, there were two bewildered looking young men standing outside the car pondering the damage. It looked pretty bad - lots of body and suspension damage.

Anyone we know here?

Wife whizzed by or I would have taken cell phone pic.

Damn that sucks.. We need to keep a eye on the parts for sale forum...lol

That does suck. I wrecked a car once and it just shrunk my confidence to nil. Sounds like no one was hurt though. A reminder to be safe tomorrow on the drive, fun, but safe.

I'd say under steer sux! when My car was new before it was all souped up I was like oooh subaru invincible in the turns well luckily it was very late because I wouldnt mess around in traffic... but the car ended up facing where I just came from and parallel to the on ramp entrance at 101 and scottsdale.. but that was after some E brake slide action.. she was headin off the road .... then add like 135+ horses to the party and well.. ouch RIP STi

no.. not at all. it really happened. and it seems a lot of people think subarus are bullet proof as far as handling.. which.. well... not the least bit true. which could possibly explain why someone did what they did to the STi in this topic. And why our cars are so expensive to insure. no sarcasm at all. without some serious suspension mods the impreza is not a sharp handler.. do you disagree?

the AWD allows hte car to handle in otehr than perfect conditions, but the front wheels being powered does add more understeer. Where as a RWD car with decent power will swing the back end out, allowing you take the turn a little faster. But my 88 supra felt lighter on the overhead ramps than my bugeye with G.A.B. coilovers and didn't get sideways when I hit the brakes at 100mph+.

Another good argument for taking your car to a track day. Glad to hear that the driver/passenger were okay.
