The fact it's $15k is laughable. That probably was $22k Jeep with 0 miles. Crackpipe.

Range Rover 99 HSE Driving everyday - $1200
Hey Everyone, 1999 Range Rover HSE, with title, white/cream color, Tan color inside,

This is my everyday work car. Insured with inspection expiring end Sept. I drive it 20 min to work everyday and errands on others. At night it is always in a garage. I have driven to New Jersey 3 times with it. The vehicle stalled on me twice while driving once a month ago and then last week. AAA took it to a R.R. Mechanic and they said that they could tell me the problem if the car stalls while its hooked up to their machine. But the car ran for 45 min so they decided to turn it off and not charge me. About the car

Great engine for when the light is turning yellow and you want to give it gas to beat the light. 3 keys, all seatbelts work, hitch on back, front guard bumper, roof rack, both seats can electrically move in all directions, height inside is like being in a van, great view of road for safety, new spare tire, side rail for stepping inside the vehicle, interior is so clean you can bring your entire family. Battery with recite bought from Range Rover 6 months ago still with warranty. The outer body is in really really good conditions. Their is one minor indent seen from close. But most people compliment and say that it doesn't look like an old model. The body is made of Aluminum.... so it doesn't rust!!!! The back seats have barely been used and even the front seats are great. Official floor mats...etc...... Smooth ride.... On the negative, back passenger side window doesn't go down (motor) suspension is gone, check engine light is on for O2 sensor, heat can be turned on and off with the "PROG" button easily with perfect heat. Option two to heat is with a dial.... that gets stuck in freezing weather.... but works fine on warmish days. Heat display screen broken. You can see the numbers changing when you push up and down for temperature but that's it.... that's whats important anyway. Passenger seat heater fuse out, leaks a little oil from underneath but that's normal for this age. This is a vehicle that is driven everyday, not something sitting in some storage yard for who knows how many winters and years. This is the fair and final price....
If theres more if youd like to know I will be checking my emails... I will post more pics, of dashboard, front seats, engine.....tomorrow for daylight. The reason for me selling this is because it has stalled out on me twice...... I don't want to pay to find out what the problem is and fix it when I can sell it and use the money for a different car. A junk yard will take $700 with the price of aluminum, the spare tire is new, the battery is only 6 months old, and the other parts of the car are worth a lot also sold individually.
I've always wanted one of these and for this price, should I do it? Anyone have any advice?

Went camping over the weekend. The old truck is definitely lacking in the ground clearance and traction department.

Buy it. If you have an extra few thousand to keep fixing it.

The TJ Rubicon was a great truck. Lockers front and rear, plus a rear LSD.
The 4.0 was around for like 20 years. It was a proven motor with plenty of cheap replacement parts, but you will never go fast.
Can you deal with a torquey slow vehicle with no room for cargo? Jeeps are cool, but they're not for everyone.

have a chance to potentially pick up a Cadillac Escalade EXT for $3-4k from a family friend, going to check it out tomorrow, but 90% highway miles, 290k on the clock, well maintained.

Welcome any thoughts/cautions. Would sell the Grand Cherokee if I bought the Escalade.

The only caution would be the high miles, but if you're ok with that and what owning a high mileage vehicle could bring in terms of repairs, then go for it.

That particular GM drivetrain setup is pretty much bullet proof AFAIK.

My GVR4 has 205k, my legacy has 255k, and my ZJ has 200k. Edit: Its an 02. And lived the last few Winters in Wisconsin, so need to check on the rust situation as well.

Well then, go for it

Alternately, you can just use the drivetrain and swap it in to the ZJ or Legacy

Just saw your ninja-

Yeah, I'd definitely give the underside a good looking over.

question for you guys. I in the need to start towing my fj40 to places. but i really dont want to buy another truck and a trailer (really have no place to store or want to pay for the upkeep) has anybody just rented a uhaul pickup and trailer and used that for towing on the weekends. as i figured it would only be getting towed around 4-5times a year.
what do you all recommend?

currently dont trust it. also need to some good shake down runs and dont like the idea of flat towing it behind my taco or trying to drive it out there. but when going to some of these places its just so much nicer to tow then drive it and always thinking you might brake.

Jeep is up for sale and already have a number of people interested. I basically over the last year went through and replaced pretty much everything. It was a long list as I was writing the ad. A little sad as I wasnt really planning on selling it but the Escalade deal was too good to pass up.

It has the 6.0L high output LQ9, which was a nice surprise. There is a lil bit of rust but nothing that was out of control. The last owners washed the undercarraige on a weekly basis in the wintertime. It has been WELL maintained.

They upgraded to a newer used escalade, but that one had big chrome 22" rims on it... which ended up on mine for the sale. So first order of business is to get rid of those. Should be able to make a little money back on them. I am actually thinking of just doing black steelies with a good set of factory sized tires.

I couldn't find any pictures of Escalades with steelies.

This is still a camping vehicle to me. It was used as one before, and the paint is nowhere near perfect, but still, looks good.

I may pick something like this up, until I get a trailer.

Been looking at a few things for the EXT.

I really want to build this for my dog, and the plans are available online these days.

Super simple too, basically just a board and some notches, and the factory spots makes everything all level, and the rubber stops are like guide pegs for it all.

Also nice that a good number of things like sub boxes and such that were designed for the Avalanche will work on this as well. All that stuff is cheapppp these days too.

There is a good chance if his O2 light is on, it could be catalytic converter related. That's a huge gamble.

Why people say that is beyond me. Highway or backroads, your parts are still turning.

If you don't understand the difference, and what kind of difference it makes, then I don't know what to tell you.

Idling wears out your motor faster, start and stops to/from dead stop wears out your motor/transmission/bushings/tires/brakes faster. This is compounded the heavier the vehicle, and I imagine the larger the motor.

Highway speeds lubricate your motor better, and cause less wear on your transmission due to less shifting. Your brakes/suspision wear down slower. Your engine is designed to be MOST efficient while going at highway speeds.

I mean, I thought this was common sense. I have known about highway miles on cars since before I was able to drive and that was 20 years ago.

Yeah, all the parts are still turning, but to say it doesn't make a difference is a bit insane to me.

Operating hours alone is huge. Lets say that a 290,000 mile car is 90% driven on the freeway its entire life (we will use 60mph/30mph as the average highway city speeds). That would put it at a roughly 5200 operating hours on the vehicle. Now lets adjust those numbers. Lets say it was 50/50, which is probably about average for most people. That puts the operating hours at roughly 7250 hours. Now lets go full mall crawler/soccer mom, and do 90/10 city/highway. Now we are at 9200 operating hours, which is nearly double the operating hours of the first example. Compound that the switch would have you operating mostly out of the engines efficiency, with all the problems I listed above.

So yes, it makes a difference. 2500-5000 additional hours on your car WILL make a difference. To say otherwise it is a bit.... well....

On an unrelated topic, Jeep sold over the weekend. I was a bit sad to see it go. I only had it a year, did a good bit of work on it, and it rewarded me by running perfectly for the 2 hour drive south for the sale, and did it while averaging 21mpg. Not bad for a 22 year old slightly lifted vehicle with a roofrack/spare on the roof. At least its staying in the family, sort of. My sister's fiance bought it for his oldest son, who isn't a speed head or anything (not like you can be in that). Good first car.

Also, just picked up some factory 17" steelies off a silverado for the Escalade, with Toyo Open Country ATs on them. Goodbye ugly 22" wheels.

There is no LSD in any Rubicon Wrangler, FYI. It's either open, or locked.

Edit: I guess the TJ does have a rear LSD. Learn something new every day.

Right up there... I was looking at a Jeep dealer yesterday. They had a '14 Willy's Wheeler 2door... Base everything with the tow package. It was on the used lot, not NOS. They wanted $33k!!!! Really? It gained $3k in a year? It was cheaper to special order a new 2015! So I did. If they had it for $24k OTD, I would have jumped. So, 6-10 weeks from now, I'll be driving a Tank Clear Coat, 2 door Willy's Wheeler edition! Base everything with a tow-package...

Man, you guys should be looking up in the PNW for wranglers and just drive them home. They are all over, not generally overpriced from what I have seen, dealers usually are selling them lower usually from what I noticed due to lack of interest.
