![]() So, I've decided, after almost 3 years of fighting this thing, that I'm going to keep it, and make it into what I want it to be.
Part of this involves fixing the annoying crap. Like having half my cluster's lights burned out. To start out with, I'm going to replace the alternator and battery (for a second time), convert the front turn signals to LED's (rears already done), and repaint it (eventually). For now, I'm looking at the gauge cluster, cruise switch, fog light switch, and cargo lamp switch lighting. The cluster takes #74 lights, so if I get LED's, does the shape matter? I don't want to have the stupid bright and dim sections, as I have seen on some vehicles, so... I decided to just replace all of the bulbs with red LED's (I find red to be the easiest on my eyes at night). Ideally, I would like to replace the high beam lamp, cruise, and low fuel light with red, but... I haven't taken the cluster out of this, so I'm not entirely sure if they all can be replaced or not. So, should I just grab whatever #74 bulbs I can find, or should I avoid the triangular ones? I think I'm going to leave the HVAC lights alone, but... There's at least two bulbs in the cluster and every light in the left side switches are all burned out (except one), thanks to the previous owner either running a garbage alternator, battery, or both for many years. >_> Follow up question: The passenger front door needs a new skin. Previous owner got a big dent in it, and I would like to replace the door skin, are the 2000-2004 Legacy the only option for replacements other than Baja, or do the Outback doors fit, too?

Every single bulb in the left panel switches (the fog light, cruise, and bed lamp) are ALL burned out. Well, there is one bulb in there that still works... I grabbed 10 T5 and 10 T10 bulbs (#97 and #194) and I'll be pulling the cluster out, swapping all of the lights for LEDs, pulling the three switches and replacing all of those bulbs, and if I feel frisky, I'll replace all of the lights in the HVAC control panel. I like feeling like I'm on a WWII submarine, so I went with all red LED's. Nothing like a red CEL. |
