Make: 2016 WRX CVT Mileage: 74000km (46000mi) Time Out Of Use: 2 weeks, can't drive for more than 30 mins at a time Problem And Likely Cause: CVT fluid seepage, low power coming from a stop, lurching. TSB 16-103-16R should fix this. Modifications: Radio Submitted For Warranty Work (Yes/No): Yes Reason Given For Denial: Work is covered, but CVT fluid not covered under warranty, despite needing to be drained to do the work Your Story: I've noticed some fluid seepage in the transmission, similar to what's in TSB 16-103-16R. The car starts to lose power after driving for over 30 mins, which I saw on here could point to torque converter issues (lack of fluid from the seepage maybe). I brought it into my dealer and they agreed that this issue fell under the TSB and that the work would be done under warranty. 6 hours later, on the phone, they mentioned that 'oh yeah, you'll need to pay $350 CDN for the CVT fluid when we reopen it'. This doesn't seem right to me, as they would obviously have to drain the fluid to do the resealing work, so you think it would be covered. On the WRX CVT Facebook group, most responses have said this is indeed the dealer trying to rip me off, but the other Canadian also mentioned he had the same issue and had to pay, in another province too. Any thoughts?

![]() I curious on what i should expect in the coming days. Just sent my 2019 sti to the dealership. At 20k miles it looks like i either spun a bearing or broke a rod. Never raced, daily driven, but i have an aos and an intake. So i suspect it might be a battle to have this covered under warranty.

![]() No i had an AP on it, cant run intake without it. Talked to the dealership, and they seem pretty understanding. We will see how it plays out. I was honest with the service rep, and i think that went a long way.

![]() So then why are you lying on here? You said you had an AOS and intake. Nothing of a tune. If your tune was on there you have to call in to Subaru to verify your cid and cvn numbers. If it doesn’t match more than likely your going to be denied. If you removed the tune you’re clearly hiding something and either way a a mod report gets filled out.. Like I said originally maybe you get lucky and the dealership doesn’t care. If you came to my dealer you’d probably be denied.

![]() Why am i lying on here?!? You obviously have something wedged firmly up your butt. I asked some simple questions and got alot of great answers none of which came from you. I didnt lie to the forum nor to the dealership. Im sorry im not obviously as intelligent when it comes to subarus as you are. Its my first 4 banger and first turbo car ever. Now granted im pretty old at 41. But your god complex can go. The dealership is going to warranty the engine. And i made it very clear how thankful i was about it. It will have the stock parts put back on and will keep it that way knowing what i do now about how temperamental the engines are now. Hope you have a great day, and please see your proctologist...

![]() While you were making it sound like you baby the car you conveniently left out you were tuned. Hence my “lying on here” comment. You clearly left it out for a reason because clearly you have an intake and know it needs to be tuned. So why did you leave that part out? I assumed because you wanted to sound like you were innocent in the matter.

Make: 2017 Legacy Mileage:51000 miles Time Out Of Use: 6 days Problem And Likely Cause: Clutch disk worn out Modifications: Submitted For Warranty Work (Yes/No): Yes Reason Given For Denial: Clutch is a wear item, pilot bearing not covered under drivetrain warranty Your Story: At first I suspected an oil leak from the engine or the gearbox to the clutch compartment but the picture showed that the clutch was 100% dry and not contaminated. Turns out that the clutch disk was worn out. The technical dvisor tells me that the traction control of the Gen6 slips the clutch and it is the reason why he clutch wears faster I have many manual cars in my life and I never have to change a clutch before 100k miles anybody ears of that story before? |
