Lightbulb AutoX car # ?

I starting AutoX this spring and I was wondering if anyone needs/wants those magnetic signs I've seen on some cars. I really hate wiping off white shoe polish.

So maybe we can get someone to make us up a batch.

Have SUBARU and Stars at the top, the class below (would be nice if you could interchange the letters) , car # and maybe i-club on the botom.

Anyone?

Yeah, likely be the best way by having a vendor offer first.

These are very easy to make yourself. You can buy a roll of magnetic material from a craft store for ~$25 and then print the design onto regular paper then simply trace onto the magnetic sheet, cut it out and color. An arts & crafts project just like on rainy days at summer camp!

The other route is to have them custom made, the price I generally see for these is in the $60-80+ range.

That's exactly how I've done it, four times now and they've all turned out great. The magnetic material and the paint cost maybe $15 total. Plus you get to pick your font and color.
I made these.

Good luck.

Are those magnets or vinyl tape in that picture? Vinyl might be good if you leave it on, but some of us drive their cars on the street and don't need the numbers to attract any more attention. I didn't think vinyl was good for taking on and off frequently??

Do you get to choose your own number in auto cross?
If so, that is great, but if not....then do you have a bunch?

You can get a 'permanent' number in most regions. In my region(Houston SCCA) if a particular number has not been used in the last 5 events, you can claim it for your own.

Go with the magnetic stuff from the craft stores. Holds like hell, and you can always make more if you lose a number or change numbers (like when a new season starts)

You can also go to Solo Performance Specialties and get a whole set of numbers. You get two "panels" for about $70. You get extra 1's, 2's and 3's. You can also purchase blank magnetic sheet by the foot from them. The price runs a little over half what it costs to buy the ready-made numbers (if you calculate it by how much magnetic sheeting you have). You can also get "LED" digital style magnetic segments which can be used to make numbers (really cheap at $16). I'm considering buying the magnetic sheeting (about 2 feet by 2 feet), and creating my own version of digital number segments.

Or you could do what I did last season. I made up some numbers (I printed them using my computer, and even resorted to a black marker a few times to make them), and put the numbers in plastic sheet protectors. Then I taped them to my car with masking tape. The numbers were reusable since the tape never contacted the paper, and they were protected from the weather if it rained.

Thanks for the pics and and tips but my question doesn't pertain to earning my merit badge in arts and crafts.

All I really wanted to know was there any interest in having having a vendor make up some signs for I-club members. Show some I-Club pride on the AutoX course.

I must say the way the tread went was a bit funny.

Peace!
