Layed down the glass for the mold





still a couple layers left, then ill use it to make the mold for the roof

What's the difference in weight with the oem roof and fiberglass? That's a genius idea too.

What about doing a factory RA aluminum roof skin instead? Probably pricey, I know, but alot less work if you could find one.
Great build btw, im loving the progress.

Thanks man, I was originally wanting to buy a carbon fiber version which would be more of a cookie sheet cutout, where you cut everything but 1 inch all around, then glue the roof on top of the existing version, but since I had decided to save money on roll cage and cut the roof out entirely, i decided to try and tackle a fiberglass roof. I work with fiberglass as I build custom mobile and home theater subwoofer and speaker boxes, but working on a flat plane is a little different. Plus its what you build not what you buy right?

Update: I got the mold made, hopefully I can bust out the roof this weekend, Ive been really busy with work(s). Have to fund this project somehow haha, and my lexan glass has shipped as well, so I am pretty excited.

You say the roof is 60 lbs lighter, is that including the sunroof.. just checking cuz thats heavy... Great build and looking foreward to updates... Love the ingenuity
