OMGHi2U LWTB: Cheap desktop PC parts

Well, I start school this weekend, and my computer is sadly blow up. I plugged it after a reformat and some other stuff - electricity arced and the PSU fried.

I can't find any other PSUs that fit my machine, and its a "space saver" design, so I have no NIC, and the integrated sound & video aren't WinXP compatable. I think its reached the end of the road.

So, anyway, I need some parts quickly. What I'm really after is a cheap chassis, motherboard, processor and RAM. I've got all the drives I need, but this setup will need to either have integrated sound, video and a NIC, or include them too. I don't have much to spend - depends on how much my books cost.

I'm in Tolland, CT, 06084. PM, post here or email is james.white - at - uconn.edu.

-James

I've got a variety of spare parts, but most of them I threw out a few weeks ago after no interest.

How much PC do you need? I can probably get you a complete Dell Optiplex, but it will only be a 333 or 350. Otherwise fully functional along with sound, NIC, video...

Well, my old machine was a 550, so I'd like to do a little better than that. I don't need that much, though, mostly just for interweb, word processing, MP3s, etc.

I'll certainly keep you in mind if nothing else surfaces.

Thanks,
James

James- stop by my work, pick up springs and whatever computer parts you need.

edit: I've got an 800 here, I think. Might have to scrounge up a HD for it, but other than that, it's ready to go.

I don't need a HD. You're just going to let an 800 go?

sure. buy me lunch or something. If I play my cards right, I might get a free lunch every single day this week! You can't buy that kind of synergy.
