![]() A 2011 WRX rolled into the shop today with smoke coming out of the tail pipe and the oil fill neck/dipstick. 18,740 original miles on the odometer. Living the Subie life can get expensive. Cylinder 2 and 4 are both in the 65-70psi of compression range now.

![]() Not quite a snow day. But, So Cal cold... hail storm at the shop this morning. We had most of the cars inside before it started to fall. The thunder gave us warning.

![]() A bad week for low compression banks on EJ255 engines. This 2007 Legacy GT SpecB came in on a tow truck. Car was in a drive through when it stalled and would not start. Skipped the timing belt (118k and the tensioner was a re-used original). Zero compression in cyl #1 and #3 once we reset the timing to test.
New owner of the car. Supposedly the head gaskets were recently replaced. We see the signs of poor workmanship and low cost parts along with the re-used OEM timing kit. I attribute the failure to the previous work. Wonder why the previous owner put the car up for sale??? Its a buyer beware world, we do offer pre-purchase inspections. ![]()

![]() 2012 WRX put back to stock today (approx 90k). GS TMIC, Forge BPV, GS mstr cyl brace, Crawford AOS, GS 3 port EBCS, TurboXS down pipe, GS heat shield, Greddy CBE, Brembo front brake kit, Stoptech brake lines (all 4 corners), Cobb AP, Tein coil overs and more removed and replaced from this car today. Soon to be sold/traded in. A local owner left with a boatload of used aftermarket parts that should be hitting the "for sale" scene soon.

![]() Performed a timing belt service on this 2008 STi today. A standard timing belt service at Infamous Performance consists of:
Replacement of the timing belt, tensioner, idler pulleys, water pump, thermostat and a coolant flush. Service is recommended between 100-110k miles. We use all OEM components and fluids and the price is $800 parts and labor out the door. ![]()

![]() Today at the shop... Steve Gerhardt on the dyno tuning a MONSTER STi. Steve will be back tomorrow to complete this tune. So far Steve is up to 20psi (and north of 300whp/tq on the Mustang) and expecting to hit 32psi on ACN91 pump gas. Stay tuned...

![]() A 2013 STi that was in today for a boost leak. Found it, fixed it and the car is back on the road with its rightful owner.
Gotta get back to the dyno, the monster STi needs a new oil control valve on one exhaust cam. It went "haywire" this morning on the dyno causing us to stop tuning. Cant risk having the cam advance far enough to make the valves contact the piston. Big cams and valves and we dont want to go over 40-42deg of advance. Plus the oscillating cam was causing the AFR to change. We should be back in business tomorrow morning and continuing with the tune. ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() 3 generations of STi in the shop being worked on today. 2015, 2012, 2007. The 2015 is being tuned (flex fuel) by Bill Knose on the dyno tomorrow. The 2012 is a continuing tuning project with Steve Gerhardt. Steve says, "it takes time to get to 42psi". Yup, but your already making 330whp at 15psi, lol.

![]() 2015 STi. Stock turbo and TMIC (and clutch). Flex fuel supplied and tuned by Delicious Tuning (Bill Knose). The dyno graphs and the car. Very nice numbers on our heart breaker Mustang, especially with the stock clutch. 309whp, 407wtq on e60.

![]() If you can hear the throw out (release) bearing, its time to address the situation. If you can feel the throw out (release) bearing you are playing with fire. If you drive the car until the entire assembly grenades, you get to replace the transmission. Not enough snout left in this 2013 WRX to even attempt a repair. Not a good day for anyone involved.

![]() This 2008 WRX came in with a seized turbo. No wonder... 190k original miles on the clock. Single owner who obviously took care of the car and never hits boost. Thats how you make a Subie last. Engine over heated and took out the head gaskets prior to 40k miles. Dealership performed the warranty. Otherwise all original and original turbo with 190k. One of the rare turbo Subies to make it past 150k without needing a MAJOR repair/rebuild. Thanks to Pure Turbos for the fast turn around on the rebuilt turbo. The car is now back in the hands of the loving owner.

![]() Preparing this 2007 STi for return to the customer. 60k service, new South Bend stage 2 clutch, new Invidia catted down pipe installed. Possibly going on the dyno for a custom tune prior to be returned. Where to find a clean 2007 STi with under 60k on the odometer???

![]() This 2002 WRX is almost ready for pick up. So far we have performed a compression test, replaced the coils, replaced the fuel filter, replaced the fuel pressure regulator, performed a timing belt service, replaced the clutch and are now going to replace the valve cover gaskets.
150k miles on the odometer. All original. Another keeper. ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() Replaced the clutch on a 2015 BRZ today. When the car came in from the sound the release bearing (throw out bearing) was already seized. Once we removed the transmission the suspicion was verified. 60k miles on the odometer. Clutch disc still had life left in it. Release bearing is destroyed. Transmission snout survived.
Dont risk irreparable damage to your transmission. Get your clutch replaced before it is 100% gone. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() Break in driving has begun on the fresh rebuilt engine in this 2007 Legacy GT SpecB. This car should be ready for customer pick up tomorrow or Thursday. Another dead turbo engine back on the road, stronger than it was before.

![]() Something different today. Very different. 2013 AMG CL 63. The car belongs to another local shop owner. We performed baseline pulls today for comparison. Next up is pulls with the custom tune.
With the car making 600lbft of torque on the Mustang dyno in stock form, you need more??? No, but you want more. LOL. Expectation from the new tune is +100whp over stock. If you too have over $150k to play, you can get this performance stock. The tune is another $3k. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() This 2013 BRZ went for its first drive on the fresh engine today. Outfront Motorsports closed deck block, OEM crankshaft, King Performance bearings, CP pistons (12.5:1), Carrillo rods, ARP 1/2" head studs, Custom JE Proseal head gaskets, JDM oil pump internals, Supertech valves and springs, Jackson Racing C38 Supercharger with the small (hi boost) pulley, Delicious Tuning Flex Fuel kit and Tune (and more mods too). ![]() We went to replace the serpentine belt on this FRS. The v-band clamp on the JDL headers was at an interesting angle. We had to reposition the clamp in order to replace the belt (and for good measure) as it was too close for comfort.

![]() We have been seeing a lot of these lately. 2008-2010 WRX (and occasionally an STi as well) with broken firewall spot welds. We have plenty of experience fixing the firewall, but now a new twist on the old problem. The pivot tube for the pedal assemblies are cracking. We have had to replace 3 in the past month all with the exact same crack. FYI, if you hear it "squeaking" rather than "popping" it is most likely the pedal assembly pivot tube.

Completed a decent amount of maintenance and repairs on this 2008 WRX this week. Next stop... they dyno. Steve Gerhardt (formerly of 7L Autosport) will be providing the tuning services on our in house Mustang dyno tomorrow. We are now officially offering pro tuning services with Steve Gerhardt.
