EGR Deletes in Connecticut
Is anyone running EGR Deletes in Connecticut and passing emissions?
From what I am reading the EGR is a visual check in CT. The EGR is part of the issue causing carbon build for the VA1 guys. The walnut blasting every 30k is too much. Thanks guys

My 2011 STI is due for emissions. I have deleted the EGR system with the exception of the motors themselves (so the plug is still connected). Used blockoff plates and had my tuner disable the codes associated with the system. All readiness monitors show 'ready' so I am not anticipating any issues. Plus the system is underneath the manifold for the most part, and I would assume that Joe Schmoe emissions tester is not looking that hard for the system. Will update soon.

As long as the check engine light won`t get on with code of your EGR system, you shall be alright,

So confused CT Emissions
Quote:
From my understanding CT emission's computers know (based on year, make, and model) which systems are suppose to be on our vehicle. If the tune eliminates a system the readiness will say "NA" which won't set a check engine light but could fail because CT emissions knows it should read: "ready"/"not ready". But I read some diesel guys are passing. |

I'm not sure exactly how my tuner did it, but I know that my entire EGR system is removed from the vehicle (due to malfunctioning secondary air pump valves) and the codes were disabled so I don't get a check engine light. When I go into the AP under the emissions readiness monitors, my EGR still shows up as 'Ready' and not NA or unavailable. I should be fine. |

I have no issues with my Stage 3 LGT which is tuned via Opensource but I was sure to keep all systems in play.... EDIT: you can also fail - it will give you 30 days to come back for free - if you fail again they ask you throw $600 or so in new parts/repairs (receipts needed) at the issue and then you qualify for a waiver - so it could get expensive - but not unsurmountable... |

UPDATE: Got my emissions done on Saturday at Falbo's in Seymour CT. I have had my emissions done there in the past and they performed a visual inspection and the OBDII test. This time around they greeted me and shot the **** for a little bit while I waited my turn (I go there often), and they asked me if my CAT is still on the downpipe. "Yes sir, still there". They did the OBII test and didn't even pop the hood. Passed with flying colors.
