If you ever park outside, I would get something extra cheap or something that looks like it's not there (aka the JVC el kameleon). Soft-tops make great shopping malls for the financially challenged.

Other than that, it really comes down to what you want out of it. Sub outs, Satellite radio hookups, Aux in, MP3 playing ability, and screen visibility (especially in a convertible) are all things to think about. I personally have been partial to JVC and Kenwood in the past. But there are quite a few solid brands out now.

Yep. I don't even lock the car anymore since it is easy to just cut the top. I'd take the face plate off whenever I park somewhere, and I'm not looking for something super fancy, and I definitely want single din so I have room for gauges. I had an Alpine in my old one, and then I switched to a Pioneer or Panasonic for some reason that I can't remember. I really dislike Sony everything for some unjustified reason, but they have a couple units that have Bluetooth audio streaming capabilities. Has anyone had any experience with this? I tried to briefly search but came up with few reviews of the technology.

Sorry to beat the Alpine drum but I have installed an Alpine in every vehicle I have owned (+ countless friends' ) since 1984 and never had a single issue with any of them.

I've had good luck with Alpines too, but really if you just need tunes go with a cheap Pioneer or something.

...someone tell me more about the Speedway infield... do they actually run the roadcourse? It'd make for a long weekend, but for that I might do it.

...and if they run part of the oval, I can't help but think of when Sport Compact Car ran a 2.5RS or WRX (can't remember) on a oval and starved the driver's side cylinders of oil ratTATKNOCKKNOCK :|

You have to watch out for this bluetooth stuff, not all of it will stream music, which personally is why I would want it

It is really up to the event chairs. They will determine the course. It won't be the full road course of course (har har), but it will use parts of the infield road course and possibly a bit of the oval. We really won't know for sure until that day. However, there have been some pretty fun and creative courses so far this season so it should be worth your time to race there.

Since it seems our group all does things at the same time, I think I may be moving in the fairly near future as well.

....because we are in the process of buying a house!!! We found a place in Beaverdale and are doing the final offer paperwork tonight. Closing should be the end of next month. Two car garage FTW!!!

I have to ask, though, does Amy realize that neither of those spots is for her?

LOL, I haven't broke that news to her yet.

On a related note, does anyone have any good recommendations on a home inspector? We need to get the house inspected pretty quickly to go through with the process.

I can try to dig through my notes. The guy I had do it wasn't very good, but he still uncovered quite a few problems. There was another service that was a little more expensive, but I'm guessing they are way more thorough than the individual private guy I had do it. I'll text you in a few hours, or you can text me in case I forget (which is very likely).

Thanks Nick. I don't care if they are cheap or not, I want the best inspection I can get. I figure, spend the money now and possibly save thousands in problems down the road.

I completely agree. That's why I backed out of both houses I almost closed on last spring. Even a few small items can quickly add up to costly repairs. Hopefully if you find stuff wrong with the house, which I'm assuming you will since it's probably an older home, the sellers will agree to adequately compensate you so you can repair it to your liking. You can ask that they repair it, but odds are they will choose the cheapest option available since they just want out and won't have to live with it.
