it´s funny to see Bottas defending harder against Hamilton than Verstappen, a nice way to say "**** you Toto"

I won't count HAM out so easily, y'know - season's not over yet and still got that dog**** luck that seems to work more in his favor than not.

I'll have to agree with how lucky Lewis seems to be.

Well Mercedes got caught cheating during sprint qualifying today. The matter has been brought to the stewards. They found another 0.4s in Lewis’ car illegally by letting the wing open more than allowed during DRS. Maybe this time there will be a penalty unlike their illegal power bump earlier in the season that went unchallenged.

Mercedes must be desperate to blatantly cheat this far into the season. Ham may have to start the sprint race at P20 if he rightly gets his sprint qualification disqualified and then still take his 5 place grid penalty on race day.

Hope the stewards actually do their job.

well, it´s not this easy, because idiot Verstappen was grabbing at the Mercedes rear wing under parc fermé conditions. Mercedes is not saying that Verstappen manipulated the wing, but Mercedes will argue that he could have manipulated the wing

One of the FIA rules is, only FIA officials are allowed to touch the car after it comes in for inspection. Vers doing his own hand inspection is not legal. I wonder what kind of penalty he is going to get?

50K Euro is nothing for RB. The penalty should have more bite, like a million Euro's or get disqualified. At only 50K, there's no reason "not" to self inspect/modify a competitor's car.

I'm sure VER's hulk strength would affect the rear wing (designed to withstand much greater stress exerted by downforce) to cause it to go out of specification. Dumb move to touch the car though.

Let's see if Mercedes-powered vehicles on the grid have "torpedo mode" armed and ready for race day...

Amazing drive by HAM! Especially over coming a total of a 25 place penalty over both the sprint and starting grid.

Just saying, that was one fast Mercedes Lewis had there...

I have to ask, if they found the rear wing gap issue on a normal weekend, not a "sprint weekend" wouldn't Lewis have had to start from the back of the grid on race day ?

Yes, If found illegal on regular qualifying, he would start from 20th place in the race. As if he didn't even take part in the qualifying. But with a sprint race weekend, that traditional qualifying format dictates the starting grid for the Sprint race.

Now if after the actual race, the wing was found to be out of spec, much like Vettel was found with too little fuel, they would be disqualified as if they didn't take part in the race. I'm not sure if it even goes on their record of participating the race since a DSQ is much more severe than a DNS or DNF.

Thanks, again, if it had to happen, luckily it happened before the sprint race. But the car is so much faster, I'm sure with all the laps it would have been the same outcome.

I know they can't have moveable surfaces in the cars... seems that's what Max was checking for...just seeing how flexible the wing was.

I have been following F1 since the mid 1980's, there was a time (14 years straight) where we went to the Canadian GP. My first race I saw was Detroit in 85'.

It turns out the gap was only slightly off on one corner and not by design. However, I find it suspicious that Ver went straight to it. Does RB have someone inside MB slightly loosen the bolts on the wing?

I can imagine that during Free Practices, they have to go and calibrate that DRS opening to ensure its mechanical nature is within regulation.

The penalty was disqualification from that session, so it meant all times in that session are removed. It effectively means he did not participate in the qualification session and therefore starts at the back of the next session, being the sprint. And so on, and so on

I wonder if Max saw something while on track following Lewis. Some people are really in-tune with some things. Guy's at work were amazed when I could look at something we were going to cover. I'd walk over to the roll of Poly-Film, roll off what I thought was right, cut it, lay to down and was with in an 1/8" over that 6 or 8 ft distance.

I have a bunch of those type stories, that's how my mine works. Other things I'm not so good at.

Sorry to ramble on...

And yes. He's bringing a crap load of money to the team.
