Default reasons I like the wednesday night drags better than auto-x

I know this is probably the wrong crowd to say this too, but I figured it would be fun to post and hear the different responses. Anyway... my list:

It's during the week so you don't have to monopolize an entire 1/2 day of the weekend.
It's a night so you don't have to stand around in the sun.
There's are girls there. (over 18 and under 40 )
You don't have to work the course.
It's $15 not $30.
Lots of people and lots of different cars.

Crappy things is you have to pay to get in to watch, it's kind of slow, etc.... People will also say there's no skill involved, but I certain had a hard time getting used to it.

I dunno... I guess I like autox too, but its just such a damn hassle to wake up at 7:00am on a Sat/Sun. Also, I can drive pretty quick and have fun in the corners around here without feeling too guilty, but to do a "street" 1/4 mile run is so damn noisey in my car... better for the track.

Oh yeah... knowing this board (that gets 1000 hits in about a day on a "cute chick in a WRX" thread) the Subaru attendance at the next Wednesday drag will be up by about a billion percent.

Drags are no fun to watch though... The musclecar burn outs are the gheyest thing ive ever seen, and all the chicks are underage. PLUS it costs money

Ill probably try it out one of these days, but unlike auto-x I would look damn slow out there on a drag strip

See, my thinking is this - I can find places to go from stoplight to highway and go upto 90 mph no problem. Probably won't get a ticket either. But I can hardly find places to let me throw my car around left and right.

Besides, drag races do bad things to your car. At autoX I don't even dump my clutch at start or downshift to 1st during the run. Just trying to have fun out there

It's the exact opposite out here in Auburn! Bored cops everywhere so a good flat stop light run is a real gamble... but I can find tons of curvy roads to just tear around. Plus the roads are banked with elevation changes unlike auto-x

Yeah, I hear you on it being bad for your car. I just keep waiting for my tranny to mess up on account of drag racing.

Practice starts around 5:00/5:30pm, eliminations at 7:00pm. Goes until 10:00/10:30? I'm going to get there around 4:15ish so I get a nice spot upfront. Scott (Mex Xevious) usually goes, but haven't heard about this week yet.

Well I'd love to go this wendsday Stank... I just got my car dyno-tuned from Shiv and she's pulling like a maniac. Only problem is that my girlfriend said that if I go she wants to race me in brackets with her automatic neon. And the bad thing is that I think I'll lose!!!!!!!

Now THAT would be a bummer.... or would it?

Hahaha! I wasn't trying to recuit anyone or start meets with this thread! I was really looking for some arguments both ways.

I'm talking about the Sac Raceway Wednesday Night Drags, other people might be talking about Sears Point. I'll be at the Sac ones around 4:15pm.

ROCK!

If you're not going to run you really don't need to get there before 5:30 (unless you just want to stand around and hang which is pretty much all there is to do all night). If you want to sneak in you should try to find some sneaky person who's just going to watch. I doubt you want to sit in anyones trunk while they are waiting to be teched.

Last time we all managed to find eachother once we were inside. The beauty of cell phones.
