I don't think this is a problem. I think my 98 Legacy or 00 Impreza required a turn to the left to turn off the radio.

I am doing the same thing on my wife's Ascent. Turn the volume down then turn off the car. Power is cut to the radio screen when the door is opened. The next time the car is started, turn up the volume to start listening.

Actually, I like this, because I listen to the HD radio channels a lot. There is a lag for HD sub channels to load. Since the radio is never turned off, the sub channels are loaded up without delay.

Yeah, was surprised to see all the whining about that. Doesn't affect me, as I never turn off my radio when I shut off the car, and like it on when I start the car again at the same vol as when last used.

And what is the big deal with turning down the vol before you shut off the car, if you don't want to hear it on start up. I think some people just have a hard time with adapting to change. Sort of like those that hate CVTs.

Well, yeah, it doesn't affect you if you always want the radio on. However, if you always want the radio off, it's a pain in the ass. I literally never listen to the radio. I have no presets. I never want to listen to the damn radio, but I'm forced to every time I turn the car on. I do however want the volume on for when I enable Android auto to use the phone, hands free texting, podcasts, and music.

That's retarded and straight from the aftermarket stereos all inspired by the same retard. I thought that's simple OFF will not go away from OEM but I guess I was wrong.

In fact LGT 09 HK unit does fade out which is annoying enough, but at least it does that after normal single button press.

Overall looks like a winner for Subaru. Now they got their bigun out, maybe they’ll think about a compact unibody AWD truck.

COMPLETELY forgot about the turn left till "click" to turn off. That's what I'm telling folks now is "turn to the left is the new push".

My main issue with it is right next to the dial is a "power" emblem. Not a "mute" emblem as it does in function.

When’s the Subaru minivan coming? That would fall right in line with their new direction of appliances.

They'll come out with a minivan about the time I no longer need one.
That's what happened to me with the Ascent. I picked up a Kia Sedona two years ago because neither Tribeca nor Ascent were on the market.

Kia made what I wanted then (Sedona), and now. No Legacy GT, so I got a Kia Cadenza.

How do you like the Cadenza? They look nice, but I've never driven in one.

I've been really enjoying it. They're pretty nice cars - semi-luxury, so they have a lot of features. I only have two complaints: Front-wheel-drive, and steering is a little dead on-center.

I may shift to a Stinger in a couple years, then I can have AWD and better steering. I'll wait till the used ones drop in price.

I really feel like Kia is making the kind of cars I wished Subaru would. I wished Subaru still made the Legacy GT. The Cadenza is a good substitute, with a nicer interior.
I wished Subaru would have brought the B11S to production as an SVX successor. Stinger GT comes pretty close to what the B11S would have been.

Very cool! Even the plankton-filtering front fascia looks nice!

I had to look the Stinger up again, because I could have sworn that it was RWD only. Must've been thinking of something else

The grille you mentioned is on the '17+ version. Mine's a '14.
The Stinger can be had in RWD or AWD, with either a turbo 2 liter 4-cyl, or a twin-turbo 3.3 V6.

I hear the twin-turbo 3.3 is going into the K900 and a couple of Genesis models as well.
