Official NWIC ATV/Quad/Dirtbike thread
I think motorcycle thread was great idea! But I wanted to make one just for dirt / mud / dunes / trail toys!
I know here in NWIC we have good population of ATV / Quad owners. Lets see what you ride in woods / dunes! Ill start first. 2008 Can-Am Outlander 650 MAX XT Pretty much stock with an exception of the winch rope upgrade

I have an all stock 2006 Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4. Picked it up a couple years ago. I love it! Kind of the best of both worlds. Keeps up with my buddies on their sportquads plus rock crawls and mud! I mostly ride at Tahuya or Elbe.

Typically ride Naches trail around Seattle, or head over to Wallace, ID. This photo from Moab trip this past Sept. 2006 Husqvarna TE 610. Street Legal. Typically riding all the forest service roads around Snoq Pass and Greewater, or draggin pegs on Dash Point Rd on my knobbies. Always down to ride. |

If anyone wants to have a blast riding (MX), you should come check out Thursday Night Motocross... It's held at Portland Int'l Raceway. Thursdays from April-September. I've sponsored the track for a couple years now and can't say enough about the events. Free Red Bull, Hooters support, family-friendly track. Check them out http://www.thursdaynightmotocross.com. I bet that DR-Z110 is a hoot. My buddy just picked up a CRF50 with an 88cc kit and a bunch of mods on it and it's a bunch of fun but the short wheelbase feels so funny!
I've had a few... 03 XR100R - playbike, it got sooo clapped out 02 KX100 - fun midsize bike... 02 Suzuki King Quad 300 4x4, awesome ATV. I found it in the woods, it had been stolen and hidden there by thieves. I called the police and they put me in touch with the insurance company who had paid the owner out over two years earlier so I bought the title from them for $200, they never even came out to look at the quad. I beat the hell out of that thing for another two years or so until I rolled it in a deep mud bog and it took about 6 hours to get it out. It was done after that... Then I bought an 05 Yamaha Kodiak 450 4x4 off the showroom floor, awesome quad had CVT tranny, electronic display, hill descent assist, electronic locker, but it had a lot of issues. It was easy to get water into the CVT belt area (splashing through water, really common here in the NW) and the trans will start slipping. The fix is to drain it and let it dry overnight... not really ideal. I let my friend ride it once and it ended up rolling 20-something times down into a ravine, pretty much totaling it. I think he gave me like $150 for a fairing. I don't have any bikes/quads right now... I sold everything for cars or car parts and now I miss riding! Last edited by AWD>FWD; 02-14-2010 at 05:05 PM. |

Good thread idea! I've been riding bikes since I was ten years old. I've had both quads and bikes. Right now I have a 2006 TRX400ex although I am probably selling it soon to buy a Kawasaki KX450 or a CRF450. Heres a pic of my current ride though.
