Power Windows, Locks, Dash light failure.
I have posted this problem several times in the past, followed many helpfull leads only to find a still unsolved problem.
Details: For about 6 months power windows made odd clicking sounds like relay noise underneath dash or in door card while going up, or down. During this noise the dash lights would flicker. Eventually the dash lights just turned off and the power locks, and windows stopped, allong with the dash lights. So now no locks, no windows, no dash lights. Things I have tried: Relays, fuses, everything is in working order. I also tried removing my gauges and turbo timer, nothing fixed. I am about to order 88281 Integrated unit as pictured in this picture. I have tried actually swapping in a friend spare STI integrated unit, which doesnt share the same part number but is identical on the outside. That didnt work. Any suggestions? Anyone in the chicagoland are want to let my try there 02-03 Integrated unit out of htere manual car? Thanks again in advance for any help.

What mods involving any wires have you done to the car?
Also, you can test if the integrated unit is working properly by using a multimeter to monitor its outputs. However, the power windows do not involve the integrated module. Looking at the '02 shop manual Wiring volume, the power windows get power through a circuit (MB-12) coming from the Main Fuse Box (under the hood), fuse SBF-6 (30A). Not only does this run the power windows, but it also powers Fuse & Relay Box (underdash) circuit FB-33, fuse No. 3 (15A), which in turn powers the integrated module for the power door lock system. Perhaps you had a flaky relay or some other intermittent problem before, but I bet you now may have one or both of the above fuses blown as well. Use a multimeter to check electrically that you are getting power downstream of the fuses, don't just go by the looks of the fuses (you could also have a loose wire that intermittently shorted). |
