Question sony T1, or wait for the new 3MP camera phones?

i need a tiny point & shoot digicam, and i was looking into the sony T1 (actually works very well considering it's form factor), but then i found out nokia is going to be rolling out a 3MP camera phone later this year. i love all the fun things i can do with my 3650, and i'll ALWAYS have my phone on me (the reason i want a compact point & shoot). obviously the dedicated camera is going to work better, though you do pay dearly for the ultra compact form factor. 3mp is certainly enough for casual use, and the added convenience of having one all-in-one device (since there's tons of stuff out there for symbian based phones) is a plus.

i'm still leaning towards the camera, but the phone could be nifty if it works well.

Given how delicate cell phones are (I know 3 people who have busted the lenses on their camera phones, or the lense gets scratched up etc) I would say try and just buy a small digital camera.

I have the Canon S400 and the thing is smaller then my wallet, and there are smaller ones available (the SD10 for example). Pretty easy to leave in your car, or bring with you when you go some where and want to be taking pictures. Camera phones are good enough for avoiding TTIWWOP's, but thats about it IMO.

(Though I'm sure in 2 years we'll have SLR cameraphones that are 8 MP and rival the digital rebel. Though lenses might make the phone a bit hard to use. )

It's only a matter of time before they finally realize you can put every device into one god damn things. Now wheres my Sony Camera Handi-phone-pda-PSP...

Just got myself a Canon S500 5 mega pixel awesome camera, way small, with awesome quality pics. The Sony W1 5 megapixel image quality is about the same as the Canon s500 better in some ways but not in others, more flexible with manual adjustments, and cheaper too but it's a little larger and not as nice looking, that's what made me decide against it. Sony T1 is smaller than the Canons but images are not as good.
