Question 2012 Foz XT odd black box hanging from drivers footwell.

Got my 2012 XT back from the shop and this little black box fell on my left foot while driving, still connected and all, but was a little surprised...what is it??? Not sure where it should be stowed. Does not seem to be affiliated with the OBD2 connector whatsoever. The wiring merges into a bigger clump of wires under the steering wheel, the 2 wire bundle seems to be power.

Beats me. Are there ANY FHI/Subaru logos/branding on it at all? Seems like it might be a dealer installed f*$*ery.
There's one dealer around here that puts an antitheft device on every car that comes across their lot, and of course they install them with stupid scotchlok vampire taps. And they *never* cause any no-start problems down the road...

Curious if it could be part of the remote start...anyone have that and can verify?

Good call. I've installed a bunch of those and I can't remember if that's what the immobilizer interface looks like. If it is, it should be velcroed and zip tied to the AT control module.
