Default Side turn signal bulbs in front 1/4 panel

Newbie here to this great looking forum!

1998 Impreza Outback Sport wagon (original owner)

I want to replace the 2 bulbs for the turn signals which are on the side of the car, just a few inches forward of the front doors. The car is 20 years old and these have never been changed. Anyone know if it's just a matter of going through the front wheel wells to get to them? Is it worth the trouble, or am I better off having the dealership do it?

I purchased online the original maintenance shop manuals, but this is not covered- at least from what I can find.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

IIRC, you would push-to-slide the lamp forward, which will allow for pulling the rear out and away from the fender.

That makes perfect sense. I'll give it a try when the car gets home.

Thanks!
