when installing the jpipe only, is it necessary to remove the restrictor pill before getting a tune?

Stick with what your tuner recommends. We didn't remove it until we had several more mods, including an EBCS.

Hey Chris,

Do you mind posting a pic of your catted jpipe? Sorry if it's been posted but I can't seem to find a pic.

Sorry for the delay! We don't put a cat in the J-Pipe. It's the worst place you could put any kind of flow disturbance. We only put the cat in the I-Pipe (as an option) and in our 1-Piece J/I-Pipe. We install the cat into the longest straightest section to promote best flow characteristics.

We've recently made a very large buy of tubing to make these products, so our pricing is going to be adjusted... down. If you can wait a bit, we're going to be releasing our updated pricing soon.

Thanks for the info Chris. I'm glad I waited. Can you weld a nut to the new jpipes for the damn grounding cable?

Hmmm... that's not a bad idea. I think we just moved the mounting location over a bit to get it to go through the flange bolt.

Great news!

Being that I'm still a little ways from some DP action... You guys were originally my favorite downpipe and have recently become my favorite again!

just got my killer b j pipe and catted ipipe installed

if you guys still read this thread, just wondering if anyone had issues with the gasket connecting ipipe and stock catback? my shop told me it bolts together but the gasket on the stock catback needs a donut shape, where the ipipe side is flat . it works but i was warned if a possible airleak

does anyone have a solution for this?

included a brief vid to hear what it sounds like

You need an adapter that connects the 3" gasket to the stock catback:

http://www.grimmspeed.com/3-downpipe...ubaru-catback/

i dont think killer b has one yet

It's not pretty, but installing that way (some you need to reverse the donut gasket), has been happening since downpipes have been bolted onto these cars in 2002. We've done it ourselves and have never had an issue. Like I said, it's not pretty, but if everything is good and tight it should last years.

is an aftermarket 3" cat-back really necessary if I pick up the J and intermediate pipe? I just might as well pick up an axle back to save a few hundred bucks to spend elsewhere on the car. Any insight on this?

You can get Grimmspeed's aftermarket downpipe to OEM catback adapter: http://www.grimmspeed.com/3-downpipe...ubaru-catback/
