Winter Wheels for an 05 Legacy GT.
I was thinking about getting some winter wheels/tires for my car. I heard that 17s"s are the smallest size wheel you can fit on them?
And is it worth it? I've heard the tires on the new GT suck. Not sure if thats all around suck or suck on the track?

I would wait until it's a little closer to winter for all of the info to be available on winter applications for your car ... ask again in late September

17" seem to be a must for the Legacy GT because of the big brakes. I don't know if there is a special 16" that will fit over the brakes, but I guess it is very unlikey. Take a look at the front brakes and check out the space between rim and brake. There is not much left. I already got the confirmation from Subaru Germany that with the Legacy 3.0R 17" have to be used - all the time, even in winter.
The possible sizes are 205/50/17 or 215/45/17 (also 225/45/17 with the according offset). I am planning to get winter tires in 215/45/17. Maybe 205/50/17 would be better for winter because they are thinner, but I don't want to have the 215 - I am afraid of squealing winter tires on dry roads ... All season tires are an option, but I always had summer and winter tires because we have a decent amount of snow in my area. |

I wonder if RS wheels will clear the calipers? How much bigger are they than WRX rotors with 4-Pots?
I am very interested because i'm gonna be picking up a Red GT wagon real soon. |

So has anyone actually tried RS wheels on the 05 legacy?

That's good news.
So if that's true then there are probably some 16's already out that will work, just nobody has tried them yet. Somebody give the RS wheels a try, they clear the 4 pots. |
