News The official "race-gas" price thread.

Okay.. This thread will be used to give the price of 100 octane "race-gas" at your local airports... When you go to the airport, ask for the self-serve "100 low-lead". It is the same stuff.

Prices as of 07/30/04

Salt Lake #2 - $2.99/gal - 801-566-4829
Woods Cross - $2.75/gal - 801-397-2324
Ogden OK3Air - $3.18/gal - 801-394-3400
Ogden Jet Center - $2.81/gal - 801-392-7533
Provo City - Ad Vantage - $2.74/gal - 801-373-0540

Remember... always blend your fuel.. never put it straight into the tank.

Cheers!

Oh yeah.. PM me if you find that you wanted to add an airport and price.. Also let me know what # that airport can be reached at. I'll try to update this thread once a month. You Colorado fella's can PM as well. Just provide phone numbers, and any important info that may be needed. Thanks!

No... It's the exact same stuff minus any detergents. That is why you blend the gas.
If you don't want to try it, then don't. If you don't trust me, call any of the local airports and ask. You may get different answers, but I've talked to both woods cross and salt Lake... they both said that the "race gas" that you can buy for $yourfirstborn/gal, is the exact same stuff.
Oh well.

I think he means you need to mix the 100 octane fuel with the 91 you'd purchase at the local gas station in a container before putting it into your tank. Not sure of the detrimental effects, but would imagine because the 100 octane doesn't contain any detergents it could eventually deteriorate the tank, and you've then got splotches of 100 or 91, not a true 93-95 octane. Am I close?

Don't just fill up on pure 100 octane... That is bad because there are no detergents in the fuel. You can just put in a gallon here or there to boost your octane. That is what most people will use it for.

It will mix together to make a good 93-95 octane. There won't be any pockets of 91 and 100 floating around. A few good corners, and you'll be all mixed up.
