I'm wondering if they throw sand on the quarters like in previous models.

there's a thread somewhere (I think in galleries) and the '11 supposedly have more factory clear bra on the rear corner of the rear doors and on the fenders.

Good, I've noticed some of it on my '10.

Just picked up my '11 WRX on Saturday, and I can confirm this.

Congrats! Can the clear protective material be replaced should it become overly worn?

I don't think you'd wear it out... it has nothing to wear on and is a few mills thick:

It covers the door, fender and bottom skirt.

If you're really concerned get some RA flaps.

No problem, nice touch they added (not sure if it's on the 08-10 STI's), but they added it, so I'm happy.

You won't wear it out but it will become rough and won't wax to a shine after years of being subject to rocks and sand. To most it's not that big a deal and you can always get a shop to replace them with new coverage.

Is there more of it on the '11 or is it a new addition? It seems like mfgs are addressing paint chipping problems by applying this at factory.

Anyway, I'd still pick up a set of RA flaps.

So glad I waited for a 2011 - a lot of the little things have been taken care of finally.

It wouldn't be a Subaru if it didn't have wafer thin paint.. The paint on my 06 is what is making me go for the 2011 STI. Perfect marketing strategy..

not gonna lie. my obp came with dealer installed swirls.

and i'm pretty good at detailing my car, enough to wash cars without adding much more swirls. and man..... it's hard as BALLS to keep the swirls down with the black.

clear coat = 10x too thin.

already got couple chips lower on passenger door. not even freeway.

Yeah... feeling your pain. My dealer hand-washed (and waxed) my car, and came back full of swirls.

I specifically told them when I bought mine to not touch it AT ALL (anymore than they already had). Even then, my white (nothing compared to OBP/JPB) was swirled to hell and continues to get worse regardless of my clearning techniques...it's what makes a Subaru a Subaru

Either WRBP is good at hiding swirls or I just can't notice them...

Stupid rain, I want to install the rest of my parts! (body side molding / bumper cover)

My 05 looks like someone powerwashed my front bumper and doors with sand.

I test drove a 2010 model with a TON of swirls, it was black. The guy asked me if I wanted to buy it that day, I told him "sure, so long as you guys repaint the whole thing and burn all the shamwows you're using for wash N detail work".

Already have a handful of rockchips on front bumper, rocker panels, I think on an a-pillar, oh and there was the 2mm bubble in the paint on the rear bumper from the factory.

I'd guess it's not the dealer anyways. Mine came right off the truck from the port 3 hours before I bought it. It was dirty when I drove it away, so I know the dealer didn't do any "detailing" on it. It has tons of swirls in the black paint....

I put a tiny nick in the paint when I first got it on purpose, just so I wouldn't have to worry about it.
