For the 280s that sounds about right. I think they're a much better/more usable cam for the dual AVCS cars, although pretty much all cams are. On single AVCS, one could adjust cam timing for the exhaust with adjustable gears or simply setting them off a tooth, but either way a sacrifice is made.

If I trusted Kelford 264/260 not to eat my buckets I'd use them, but I don't

I don’t have AVCS... but I’m running the 264’s in my setup. 04 2.0 heads reworked. Can you explain why the 264’s would be an issue?

They won't be an issue, per say. If you've had them running with no issues for a few thousand miles, then it's safe to say you're fine. For a period of time, the aftermarket scene for Subaru cams (namely GSC and Kelford) had major issue with high lift cam lobes wearing away at the buckets and destroying engines. The manufacturers blamed things like improper lash, spring pressure being too stiff, inadequate oiling, etc.

There were a lot of speculations as to why the cams were truly failing. If you search around you'll find threads about it. Some speculated that the wider lobes being more centered on the buckets (rather than stock thinner lobes being off centered, allowing the buckets to "spin") caused excessive wear to one spot on the buckets. This would make sense, considering that buckets should "wear" more with a higher lift cam and/or stiffer spring. Others suggested it was in the blank material used by Kelford/GSC... oddly enough, GSC changed their blanks shortly after to billet. Kelford changed theirs as well.

The redesign/changing of the blanks was the supposed fix. For the manufacturers to change their blank material, one would assume they must have found a fault with the previous material.

I've chosen to avoid Kelford/GSC cams in my current car for the time being. I think for most, headwork is unnecessary. For the cost, it often yields underwhelming results. I will say that I've seen a good amount of cars running the new billet GSC/Kelford cams, and I haven't heard of any further issues. I do like the specs of the R-199-B, and they seem to be a great "area under the curve" cam, but I know my luck and I don't want to roll the dice

Figure I'm due for a "still running strong no new issues" post. Lol

Haven't done anything new sense my last post, been doing other projects and just been driving/enjoying the car.

I've got a TSS rear subframe and definitely had to get the gas tank acquainted with a hammer to make it fit.

Its been a bit sense the install, I honestly do not remember. I can tell you I would have hit it with a hammer in a second if it was needed to put the part on.

Negative. I just drove it yesterday, my home made Root beer bottle overflow tank sprung a leak but given how long it lasted I am happy to replace it.

God I LOVE this car!!!
