I don’t have AVCS... but I’m running the 264’s in my setup. 04 2.0 heads reworked. Can you explain why the 264’s would be an issue?

There were a lot of speculations as to why the cams were truly failing. If you search around you'll find threads about it. Some speculated that the wider lobes being more centered on the buckets (rather than stock thinner lobes being off centered, allowing the buckets to "spin") caused excessive wear to one spot on the buckets. This would make sense, considering that buckets should "wear" more with a higher lift cam and/or stiffer spring. Others suggested it was in the blank material used by Kelford/GSC... oddly enough, GSC changed their blanks shortly after to billet. Kelford changed theirs as well. The redesign/changing of the blanks was the supposed fix. For the manufacturers to change their blank material, one would assume they must have found a fault with the previous material. I've chosen to avoid Kelford/GSC cams in my current car for the time being. I think for most, headwork is unnecessary. For the cost, it often yields underwhelming results. I will say that I've seen a good amount of cars running the new billet GSC/Kelford cams, and I haven't heard of any further issues. I do like the specs of the R-199-B, and they seem to be a great "area under the curve" cam, but I know my luck and I don't want to roll the dice |

Figure I'm due for a "still running strong no new issues" post. Lol
Haven't done anything new sense my last post, been doing other projects and just been driving/enjoying the car. |

I've got a TSS rear subframe and definitely had to get the gas tank acquainted with a hammer to make it fit.
