The sticker price is truly mind blowing.. Seriously I thought this would be over 100k. Now having said that, can you still fit 2 sets of golf clubs in it

Original NSX was 70K. It was also 3000 lbs and not a carbon 1Xrooster (who speaks my language, Pre or Scrap probably).
I have to believe for twice the price Honda could've kept the weight the same and put a small displacement V8 in there, effectively becoming a poor-man's 458 - same spirit as the original. Probably been said 100X in the NSX thread. This vette gets close for lots less money - with a few hundred extra lbs and a DCT. Kudos to them, but I'll be keeping my current mid-engine targa |

aftermarket programming, and using "Sport mode" seems to fix it too. But as we all know, that will affect MPG ratings, so another example of a mfr engineering MPG ratings with shift points and gearing assumptions, making manual transmissions look worse than they actually are.

I did hear the dct tuning helps for the R but it's still not perfect. I just don't understand the logic of tuning it that way from the factory especially when its in sports mode. The only time my dct will shift for me if i'm in manual mode is if i'm slowing down and forget to downshift into lower gears. Besides that, its been amazing, |

My experience with recent BMW DCT's has been pretty good. GM will probably get this one right.

Fork the supra and the next gen twins; Toyota take notes. Subaru take notes. THIS is how you deliver a new sports car that exceeds expectations.

not gonna pick any nits given the absurd low price, this seems like a triumph for 'murican badassery
if a z51 can do an hpde without heat mgmt issues and the DCT functions well, then holy crap they have done well with this car. |

Yeah Acura should be in this market and could still with some sort of stripped out (not down) NSX without all the hybrid stuff, and go with a high rev screaming V6 and RWD. It wouldn't be as quick as the C8, heck it'll probably be slower than the Supra, or a V6 Camaro 1LE. I can't imagine what a GS trim on the C8 would look like.

Doesn't look like the Corvette Museum has updated their site to reflect the new car, but this is how I would get mine.

I'd take that steering wheel over my evo's 3 spoke any day. Can't tell you how often I wish I could just lazily grab the steering wheel by the middle along the bottom part of the circle during long road trips.
Also I'd say the circle is overrated and probably HAS been the wrong shape all these years, considering the pinnacle uses a non-circular wheel (I know I know... they have like.. half a turn to lock so they don't need a full circle, I'm just being facetious). |

If Honda were responsive to the market, they would watch the success of this and release an NSX without all the hybrid stuff, under the Honda name as a C8 competitor. Make it a halo Honda Type R car instead of an Acura.
And yeah, I'd be in line with E.Nick trying to get a C7 ZR1 now, and hanging on to it until the higher performance versions (or when the bugs are all worked out) of the C8 are released. Then in 5 years or so, sell the C7 for a profit to make up the cost difference to whatever the C8 Z06 ends up costing. But meh, I'm not going to buy a Corvette. Hopefully, the success of this can act as a wakeup call to manufacturers that there IS an appetite for an affordable sports car. Anything to shakeup the mass migration to crossovers and SUV's. |

Despite being the performance bargain of the century, I wonder if the MR layout will kill the “normal” sales that really propped up the sales. Rear viability will be bad, it won’t be as familiar to previous C5, C6, and C7 drivers, and the looks will really draw a ton of attention. I wonder if it will be “too exotic” for the Sunday driver crew.

That rear quarter panel / wheel ratio looks awful in pictures. Hope it looks better in person . . . or the Z model rectifies that look.

I agree, the rear quarter shots make the car look terrible. It’s like a Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde car for me. From some angles it looks great and others it’s bad. |

Hands down the best sports car deal ever. The price is half of what one would pay for the same performance and tech from any other manufacturer. I’ll be lurking at the Chevy dealership for the first time ever. Probably wait on the performance models before I sell off and pull the trigger. I will own one of these.

Checked out some C7's. I couldn't do it. They're much better than the C6's, but they're still real POS's. They also lack immensely in feel, even compared to the Viper, which is quite the blunt tool, even in ACR guise. Same thing happened when I went to check out the C6 ZR1 many moons ago. Hence, still have never owned a Vette.
Might go see the more upscale version of the C7, the F12 - depreciation has hit them hard with the 812 being out. |
