Fuelly's cool indeed, but definitely not a scientifically accurate comparison tool.
I agree with most of what you said; however, when I see large number of drivers reporting many fuel-ups and all of this is averaged-out I know this is getting awfully close to reality of what you should expect. In the absence of any real other scientific data, it is probably the best thing around. Definitely more accurate than any single driver's story, which may or may not be accurate / fictitious or his car's engine being marginally different with/without mods etc.

It is certainly questionable why Fuelly does not break-out Turbo vs. N/A or AWD vs FWD, wagon vs. sedan etc.

Fuelly FAQ

Why don't you track more vehicle details?

When Fuelly members create a new vehicle we ask for a few details: make, model, model year, body style, fuel type, engine type, and manual vs. automatic transmission.

There are dozens and dozens of other attributes we could ask for including engine displacement size, trim level, drivetrain, turbo, and the list could go on and on. Some folks would love to see much more detail for every vehicle listed at Fuelly. We feel that asking for too many vehicle details would alienate some people and could mean there would be less people tracking on Fuelly overall.

This is a constant balancing act and something we're always thinking about: how do we keep things very simple and welcoming for people who aren't car enthusiasts, but also provide data for people who want more detail. For the time being we're comfortable with the level of detail we ask for because we believe it means there will be more people tracking overall—giving everyone more fuel economy data.

If you want to volunteer more information about your vehicle, please do that in the vehicle name or description. People won't be able to sort by those details, but it will help folks who want more details as they compare fuel economy.

Saw one in person just now finally.

I was VERY impressed. Its larger than I expected though, but the interior room just made my jaw drop

The interior quality is fantastic, reminded me of the XT's from the 04/05 era but better build quality.

The mileage is good, but needs to be better. I think my dad will buy one.

Yep, most dealerships are clueless and are given way too much power with respect to which models/trim levels they stock. Any sensible car buyer is going to want to test drive first. Even if in the end they have to order a car.

Case in point. BMW dealers pretty much killed the 2006-2008 Z4 3.0si Coupe. They only stocked fully loaded models which included the Sport Package. The stiffer tuning of that suspension combined with the larger 18" wheels and run flat tires made for a lousy driving experience. The base suspension with 17" wheels a much more enjoyable and rewarding driving experience, but few buyers ever got to experience as the dealers didn't stock base model cars. In the end BMW corporate had to take the hit and give the dealers huge incentives to move the Sport package cars that the dealers had per their own choosing.

I was going to say.. if he was replacing the CT 200h with the Forester... it would have said a lot (about one vehicle or the other) since it sounded like he was infatuated with the CT when they got it.

Probably won't have that issue in the forester.

Normally not a problem but it's nice to be able to cover up the clubs and leave them hidden when parked.
My clubs fit fine in my'12 Impreza 5 door, and I have long clubs due to my height. Regular stand bag, if you have a collapsible cart, it would be an issue.

An issue is having a collapsible cart and bag and fitting it in the trunk of an S2000. (And they fit). An XV is a non-issue relatively speaking.

S2000: Cart: 3 wheel bag boy express. Remove all 3 wheels. Bag: Cart bag + cart will *not* fit together. Most lightweight stand bags will fit in the trunk with long clubs removed and placed separately on bag. Or, this is the perfect case for removable heads on long clubs.

Took out a '14 Base 6MT today and took the salesman on his 1st drive in one too.

Holy hell is this car quiet. Like, real quiet. Even in the rain as it was today. Each door has a 'flap' on the bottom that scrapes the door sill and seals the noise out adding to the quietness. You can still hear the boxer rumble, but it's much more subdued.

Nice and compliant on bumps and felt as steady as the Crosstrek. It felt like a Subaru! Getting on the highway, I didn't have to wind it up much at all to get on at 65, no where near as much as I had to with the XV that's for certain. Because of the 6spd, it runs about 1k lower RPMs on the highway, adding more to the quietness.

The new windows up front offer excellent visibility, even up and out the front. The hood is more sloped than in previous models allowing the driver to see the front corners better.

The side window sill is a little lower, but the glass goes higher, again, allowing excellent visibility all around.

More leg room up front with a few design changes for guys with long legs. With the seat back where I drive (6'1"), I got into the back seat after the drive to sit back there. There was another 2-3" of leg room to the back of where I had my drivers seat.

There's the same cubic feet in storage as the Outback and plenty of room in the back for the dogs. It's a nice ride.

I think its the one.

Put my Rotas on, save the steelies for winter.... Teehee

^ Awesome KC. Pretty much what I expected with the new Forester. I am happy I did not enjoy my XV test drive and waited. I think the new Forester might be in my future as well. Just need to wait for a test drive.

Did the driver's seat feel comfortable for the short drive?

Yeah. They're about the same with the XV.

No N/A Subaru has had a rumble since 2005 (the N/A EJ25 went to a EL header for 2006). Are you suggesting the latest FB25 has a UEL?

You hear a rumble. It's a rumble. Distinct. Doesn't sound like my old WRX with the EL I put on it.

I drove a white. They have platinum and black that I saw. I could do this as early as Saturday.

How does the SWP look in person? SWP and MBP are the ones that catch my eye online. I'm sure they look just as good in person. Get the Forester. You know you want it.

So i test drove the red one.
sportplus mode was easy to change to, the car was really smooth on normal, kind of boring and laggy. Sport plus had a lot of oomph. I enjoyed it. It was pretty comfy ride, and quiet. Rev pretty quick and some turns it was pretty nice. The rear view camera is pretty damn small tho. I had to take the car out of a tight spot did a 3 point turn in and out of a parking spot lol..
I did visit the dealer pretty late around 730 after work.

I think the inside is illuminated nicely with the red interior glow. We were both wonder why the glove box had no light. You can't see anything in the dark lol. Moonroof was huge we close the shade to give the inside more ambient. It was slightly raining so the windows got foggy fast, but deforster were quick I hit auto and it cleared the windows quick.

Visibility is amazing in this car, I felt pretty high i'm about 5'9. I didn't like the seat doesn't angle up or down for me unless it wasn't electronic and I didn't find it. In my 05 tsx I had 8 way seat adjust.

I was happy wish I got to drive it more than 10 minutes, and some highway passing it. I did a few stop and go at the light of a major road. CVT is kind of lame thing, but I went from an auto 05 tsx drove 216,000 miles. In traffic and all kinds of crappy situations. I don't think I will complain much. The car was enjoyable. Seatbelt hump in the back is distracting.

Side mirrors have auto dimming, never had that in the tsx, got to love the night road test a bit different than doing it in the day.

The white forester xt was nice, I have to say black interior is nice with a lot of the color combos.

Audio system was pretty nice, my friend has a 13 wrx premium wish it had more bass in his car, the forester was pretty nice and pumping.

I never used an eq before wished I played with it more lol I was confused.
Navi was good in day, and night little hard to navigate the radio, which everyone has said, but oh wells I won't need it much.

Sunroof is nice and larger, I def need to tint it, almost too much light comes
in.

Hope this helps i'm price shopping now.

not sure if it works

HA!!! We wish!! Our biggest complaint is what Subaru allocates to us. Second is how long it takes them to deliver them to us.
