Default Liquor ID question

Cliffnotes: can a non-resident obtain a Mass. liquor ID from the RMV?

Hello!

On more than one occassion in Massachusetts, I have been denied the purchase of alcohol because it is believed that my valid New York drivers license is a fake. I spend a decent amount of time in the state when my girlfriend and I am not here at school, and our relationship status is not changing anytime soon I am almost 22 but I still can pass for 14 in some places especially if I shave before I lie

My research: I was reading the RMV website (which is how I found out about it), and unlike a license or a state ID card which specifically state that you must be a resident to obtain, the liqour ID just says that you must NOT have a valid Mass. drivers license and you need 2 forms of identification (birth certificate and my NY license are what I want to use).

My question: Can a non-resident obtain a liquor ID?

Thank you!

Kevin

Yes I am 99% sure that you can. well i am 99% sure that you used to be able to. I had a mt license and got a ma liq. id. i did it for the same reason as you. anyway, im pretty sure that they can. just go to the rmv and ask.

You don't really need it. You just need to preceed your purchase with the emphatic statement: "Yankees Suck. I don't know how I could have even lived in that state".

Thanks jack. Unfortunately, whenever I am denied, I am to angry to think of some crafty remark!

The only thing with that is I didn't like carrying it around when I was wasted. Passport = $75 and a month or so to replace

Passports are not valid in all states as proof of age.

(in Vt this is the case I know)

It's crazy, and allot of people will accept them, but per the liquor laws it's not listed as acceptable.
