Default 2002 WRX help!

Small-ish issue I'm having with my accessport. So in the instructions I have to plug in the blue clip right under the steering column. Well for some god knows reason the idiot who tuned it before either cut it off or did something with it and I can't install the accessport to my car. I'm at a loss of what to do right now... and I'm quite pissed about it.

Any suggestions?

Hi there. The connector should be near the green test mode connectors. Although the initialization connector is blue in color, the corresponding connector under the dash is not blue, but white in color. Try to look closely as it may be up a little higher than the green test mode connectors (get a good source of light and try to look up while on your back if you can maneuver that way).

If you still can't find it, look for non-standard wiring and see if maybe they installed a switch somewhere. That would be unusual to do that just for the flash block and not also the green connectors, though. They could have also cut off the initialization connector and simply permanently wired it together. If that is the case and it is done correctly, then you could go ahead and attempt to install the AccessPORT after connecting the green connectors.

Some people will wire the green test mode connectors to a switch. It looks like you have two aftermarket switches on the left side of the dash. You may want to see if one controls the test mode connectors by connecting it as you did and then checking either switch and see if the flashing check engine light goes off. If so, that one is wired to the test mode connectors. The other may be wired to the initialization block (although usually when someone does this, they permanently wire this part). So, you can go into test mode, just try to determine if both the test mode and initialization connectors lead to a couple of switches or not. Also tracing the wiring from those switches would help confirm this.
