Thumbs up AGP gamers rejoice! Radeon X1950Pro is only $150 at CompUSA!

Last I checked, the X1950Pro was the fastest card on AGP. Sure, this is only the 256MB version, but for $150, it's a steal. Big upgrade for me over my 6800GT.

That's $50 cheaper than anyone on Pricewatch (for the AGP version) or Google Product search, and it's not even listed on SlickDeals (yet).

I can't imagine that I would see $150 worth of love out of that card from my 6600GT. I'd rather save that money and save toward a $1,250 albino puppy.

Hmm...I was just there Satuday looking at cards and don't remember seeing it. Most of their stuff was only 10% off retail which was still quite expensive.

It's available online. I didn't see it in the store either (I looked). The X1950Pro is pretty much the fastest AGP card out there (with the 512 being faster than the 256, but the 256 is still faster than just about everything else on AGP).

It's twice as fast as my 6800GT for half the price I paid originally, so... unlike Asi9, I can imagine getting $150 worth of love out of it.

Damn you...

I already bought my new case and PSU for the new rig I was going to build, just waiting on my 8800GT's to ship (you listening Dell!!! ). Now I'm wondering if I should just screw the $1500 build and get this card. This would allow me to play Bioshock (my X850XT AGP won't play it...) and a few newer games while I wait to see if Nvidia and Intell get their crap together with these new 45nm CPU's....

Hmm.... $150 now and let the new case and PSU gather dust, or continue with the build.... Thanks for the extra confusion.

Hmm, so that would make it worth the upgrade from a 6800 vanilla? Doesn't ATI have a 3xxx series card that they made in AGP?

AGP: It's dead, Jim.

Stop throwing good money after bad, and just save up for a new rig. Christ, even PCI died a more graceful death.

I thought about this for a few seconds....then realized my AGP has a 4x bus, and this would do nothing over what I already have.

I think it's about time for me to break the 1.5ghz barrier....

pci VIDEO cards are still a good 30% of the video card revenue annually

Eh, it's performance is on par with the PCIe X1950 cards, or maybe a few percent lower. So for me, I could either spend $150 to upgrade my card, but keep my Athlon64 x2 and 3GB of RAM, or replace at least my mobo and graphics card. And then I'd be looking at spending a minimum of $250, assuming I don't succumb to the temptations of the faster PCIe cards.

And 100% of me is 99% sure that's 98% horse****. Context? Source? Link?

Out of the 523 cards that newegg currently sells, for example, only 46 are PCI. That's 8.8% and even that shocks me.

AGP 2X/4X 1 0.2%
AGP 4X/8X 84 16.1%
AGP Pro 4X/8X 2 0.4%
PCI 46 8.8%
PCI Express x1 10 1.9%
PCI Express x16 340 65.0%
PCI Express 2.0 40 7.6%
523 100.0%

Think of all the people with ancient computers. I mean ancient. Or they just go in and buy the cheapest card possible.

My 9800Pro is crapping out, Playing a video and trying to do any thing else results on a slow picture show with normal audio.

My new Pc budget went to hell when my car broke down last week. This is a tempting option but it may not even be my problem.

Of course not, but they're a huge retailer and therefore a good indicator of the consumer market.

So you're talking b2b sales. Tell me who's selling these PCI cards, and to whom. I need to know now; I'm fascinated by this apparent embrace of 2-generations-old tech.
