When I worked at a hot rod shop, we used a small metal switch that was really heavy duty (we used it as a battery cut off), but good looking and easily concealable. It looked like it would have been a toggle, but there was no "positions". The toggle part stayed straight the whole time, and you just pushed the switch to one side and that would be the on/off motion. I think that would work well, I'll see if I can find a picture of one.

Secondly, For you to flash, do you have to flip both all the time? If so, why not just use a DPST style switch, which throws both switches, seperately, with a single switch... |

When Clark Turner tuned my car, he told me I could leave jumper plug in the car, and that it's fine. I've been driving that way for almost a year now. The only switch you would really need is the the one that would connect the two that are under the dash.

I took the rubber part off (brute force + wiggling does the trick). There is a small amount of glue on the upper part of the shaft from oem. The rubber piece is pretty thick. I just used a razor blade to create a cut all along the oem groove; deep enough that i could fit tuck the edge of the alcantara but not deep enough to cut all the way through the rubber. Made a template from the material and tucked the alcantara with a small tip flat tool. I didn't have that much extra material after doing my template so I had to stretch the material with my thumbs to have enough to tuck in between the plastic. The material is tight around the rubbber and doesn't seem to move. Theoretically, you are right in that if I decided to yank in a lateral manner, the alcantara may untuck itself (haven't tried). For daily duty, you typically exert vertical force or rest ur hand while you cruise, so less likely to get the material to untuck. For now, i will drive as is and leave it on... it's not like you handle your handle all the time that it's likely to get off... but yeah, once you have a good idea of how much tucks and the proper dimensions without bunching of the material around the grooves, you can glue it on and not worry about it sliding around. Hope that helps. I used a scrap of alcantara I had laying around from bigger projects. |
