Silverline Automotive is a Dealership that specializes in Subaru, Impreza WRX and STi models. The rumor that every car that they sell has been in an accident, damaged or branded is not factual. The truth is that while many of the vehicles sold through Silverline were purchased via auctions, not all of their cars have been reconstructed or had their engines rebuilt/swapped. Having a dealer license gives the holder the privilege to bid on repossessed vehicles, which range from clean title, clean car-fax to theft recovery, vandalized and/or salvaged automobiles. Almost every dealer uses repo auctions to buy cars, then cleans/details them and sells them at KBB value. The cars are inspected, detailed, cleaned and assessed to presentable standards in the areas of performance, reliability, safety and general appearance/conditions. They often offer the option of warranty and or satisfaction guarantee. That being said, Silverline does have cars which were professionally repaired using all genuine Subaru parts and while they may not be up to par with the guaranteed quality of vehicles with clean car fax, they do the best job repairing and handling the cars with branded titles. Of course, with repairs and replacement of parts, there is room for error and saying that its turns out perfect 100% of the time is an unrealistic and untrue statement, but the people who work on the cars at Silverline have a good amount of experience, for example the employees who paint their cars are skilled at what they do, the younger russian guys who do the tedious work like installing clips, putting together interior panels ect don't have any "real" certification but after doing it daily for years Im sure a monkey could do the work. The typical employee in the shop there are the russian older men with an extensive background (20 plus years) in auto work, but since they don't speak english and their degrees from the former USSR don't transfer over they work there where they are fully capable and qualified. Again Silverline rebuilt/branded autos are not at the standard of those that are clean title/clean car fax through them but Silverline as a shop and auto sales dealership strides for excellence...

You lost me at "sold at kbb value". Only corrupt thiefs take a totaled car, rebuilt by people who don't speak English, and resell at face value. Take your BS somewhere else.

I was not referring to Silverline, just saying that generally a dealership prices a car at KBB value. Im not surprised I "lost you" since idiots tend to have a short attention span..

What is your vested interest in Silverline?. You either work there, have a friend that works there or have bought a car there. Since all you do is buy and sell crap on here I am guessing you are involved with them. There have been enough bad experiences in this community to steer anyone away from Silverline. Not just 2nd and 3rd party, but actual people we know. You shouldn't call people idiots on here, you never know where people live or who there friends are. The NWIC is not that big.

My short attention span read that entire thing, and this idiot deduced from your wall of text that with several sentences already pointed out above me, you were defending Silverline, not dealerships in general. You tried to make it dealerships in general, to try to strengthen your argument, but you failed miserably. You can't name 3 dealerships within 500 miles that do what Silverline does. No other dealership works that way. You can defend using immigrants that don't speak a lick of english, I understand. But I work in a construction trade so I also understand that even when said immigrant doesn't speak a lick of english, and has been here many years and "knows" his craft...he still screws up on a daily basis because he doesn't know wtf he's doing.

The only idiots here are the desperate kids that want a WRX or STI so badly, they come to you guys because the price is good and they don't care that the frame was bent 45 degrees at one point in its life. Or that some russian off the boat 2 years ago just put it together. Or that you managed to find someone off the street for $15 an hour to paint it. You may think you're noble and kind, and that everyone does it...but everyone *doesn't* do it. Know why? Because the practice is so crooked and obscene, they have federal laws against it, with the lawsuits and complaints that come afterward to prove it.

But what comes around goes around. And if these boards are to be believed, the only idiot around here is the one openly defending this stealership.

I'm nor taking sides or defending the above said member or his affiliation with silverline.
I feel that if a person has had a good transaction with these guys he should have the right to state his opinion.
The name calling can be left at the door. There is no need for it.
If he feels the need to defend someone that has treated him good in his eyes let him be.
I don't think the thread was created for pure SLA bashing. Maybe after the multiple lawsuits and people begging and pleading not to buy from them. When they do him wrong and he comes to the NWIC asking for help.
At that point you can say, "I told you so!"
But I don't think its fair to jump a case when someone has had a good experience.
I did comment my head hurt from lack of grammar. Now my head is throbbing from a lack of respect of opinion.

Yup. Know more people than I can count on both hands who have had silver like horror stories.
How about the one where they tried to sell my friend a Sti with a forestor engine in it? LOL
I will never get near a silver line car.

How have they not have their dealer's license pulled? The DMV has an investigations division for crooked dealerships. I've actually filed a complaint against a dealership before through the DMV. I guess I just question how the crap they're trying to sell hasn't gotten them shut down.

Reality is, it's not illegal to rebuild a totalled car and sell it. A Licensed dealer is required to specifically "advertise" the car as rebuilt which is the only real difference from a private party sale of the same type of car. This type of work is an entire industry that is part of the larger, auto industry in general.

These guys are portrayed as a "chop shop" around here, which implies illegal type operations but in fact that is not the case. They obviously know the law, how to work within it, and maintain a dealer license. It's not that hard, I did if for a few years too.

All the system's checks and balances to make this type of business right are to be honest a bit of a joke. The WSP inspections are a good example. From a public perception it's to "ensure public safety" but in reality, they are just looking for records of where the parts in a rebuild came from. That is easy to document, especially for a dealer like these guys who do that much volume from totaled vehicle auctions.

At the end of all this, it's still an "as is" sale and buyer should be real cautious doing any business with them. When you sign, you accepted it. Doesn't matter what they said, how they fixed it, etc.

What standards, whose standards? Do you do a leak down and compression check on every car you sell? That is just a start to my standards.

buying anything involves a risk factor. There is risk involved in most dealerships (unless vehicle covered under warranty, which still includes risks)

I am a Silverline customer, have purchased parts from them and from Subaru via them for the dealer discount. I just posted my thoughts on SLA as a dealership. I am entitled to my own opinion as are the people who feel they were mistreated. The only negative reviews I heard were from people who tried blaming owners neglect and lack of proper care on the dealership, like this kid who ran his engine dry & it seized due to a leak from his "DIY" attempt at upgrading his turbo. Its always easier to blame another person instead of owning up to personal neglect.
