I ended up getting the Greddy type s. I was told that the boost controller that comes with the you tech is pretty lame. There are some people that use it and it will save you $300

You do NOT need a sep boost controller. The ABC is more than fine, and most fo the boost control is done by the computer anyways.

For most people the ABC is just fine as it works in conjunction with the OEM boost control.

TurboXS was usting their electronic boost controller when they got the 400+ numbers with their greened STi... think about that. When I'm in your shoes, im going to use the perrin solenoid... you should research the perrin boost solenoid.

You should use the Perrin Solenoid with the UTEC to control the boost on that large turbo. The stock setup with ABC and UTEC will not work.

What is the purpose of the little, anodized, cylindrical boost controller that comes w/ a Utec?--is it to raise the boost to a higher maximum level than normal, so that the Utec can then vary boost levels over a greater range?

In a nutshell, yes, it lowers the duty cycle of the FBC for a given boost target so you're not running 95% ducty cycle, it give you better control.
