After 2000 mile report.

Engine is doing well, mpg is steadily improving, last was 29.3mpg for my normal 70/30 mixed

Clutch/flywheel:
Unless you drive like a race car and never get into a situation where you meed to quickly shift into first at <16mph I would recommend...... sub 20mph in 2nd = instant misfire codes, sub 30 in 3rd same story. Even with double clutching shifting to first faster than 10mph doesn't work well with this trans so it seems like every couple weeks now i get screwed by a stupid driver and i end up in no mans shift

Conclusion:
1. Never again fb powered vehicle, so far this newer engine is fine but i just don't like the fb engine
2. 11.8lb flywheel is no good for city driving

WItha ll the oil burning issues I probably will never buy a Subaru again. I would have gone domestic if I could have gotten the AWD mpg combo for cheaper or close to the Impreza.

Is it possible to disable specific Pxxx codes on our ECUs?

You put a lot of effort into maintenance and your engine still went south, so I get why you've got a dim view of the FB.

Still, I don't know of anything foreign or domestic that delivers the same combination of AWD + performance + economy like the FB does.

I'm hooked on boxers for sure, but my next one will be German.

Probably but i cant get throttlehappy happy to respond back.

My next one will be Ecoboost FWD powered....i have 2 4wd vehicles in addition to this one, i do think the poor weather performance of my subaru is the best, but for the 20 days/year where it is truly needed I could get by with my other vehicles. I didn't own either of them when I bought the Subaru.

The majority of people don't even come close to needing AWD. I could get by without it I'm sure I just like the extra assurance considering we can get around 200 inches a year some years.

The majority of people with subarus would be much more wel off with a more efficient less likely to blow a head gasket fwd car which is just as safe as a Subaru basically.

Needing? Probably not.

I have a FWD that's twice as fast as my Impreza in good weather.

In rain, from a stop, it's half as fast.

Once traction breaks, the rain may as well be snow.

Turning into traffic at rush hour as a semi approaches, it's nice to have predictable acceleration in the Impreza.

I'll pass on the the +4 MPG.

Six years and counting, I still haven't heard of a blown head gasket on an FB.

Sorry for the threadcrap.

All of these are the main reasons for me not just dumping this car, plus it has been paid off for over 2 years. It is still fun to drive, even more fun when i drive it like a race car now because i kinda have too. It will be a beast this winter with studded Hakkas.....i am kinda wondering how my flywheel will help or hurt this winter because it is a little difficult to drive/accelerate slowly, still have a learning curve to tackle
