Yeah, I know you guys are a real quality operation. I just can't see why Subie would so underrate the figures. Being a techie I'm trying to locate an AWD dyno shop in my area to correlate the various dyno plots I've seen. I believe here in the Detroit area we're about 800ft above sea level (I think that was the field elevation of an airport I used to train at) so my numbers here would be pretty close to in 'standard atmospheric conditions'.

Again, this car feels like a 200'ish WHP car.

I want to do a baseline dyno and then again with the AP tune and Borla catback. If I can find a dyno around here I'll definately share my results with everyone.

Peace....

PLEASE do! Woudl be helpful. We also produce parts for the MINI market. Recent cars are rated at 170 HP, we (and others around the world) consistently get 180-190 at the WHEELS! So not uncommon for a mfr to underate. Saves issues like what Mazda got into with the Rx-8 and Ford with the earlier Cobra Mustangs!

And speaking of taxes, no tax to instate or out of state buyers when you order from PERRIN!

Went to PDX tuning today.
08 hatchback :
Stock except for a Cobb Accesport with Perrin stage 1 93 octane. so roughly 220 HP 280 lbs torque. I was hoping to see the 226 hp and 299 lbs of torque that Perrin showed but not every car is the same I know that. Time for a turbo back and some tuning

Curious: Did you do a baseline before the Stage 1? I did see some of your numbers a little lower than the Perrin dyno sheet, but likewise I also saw some of your numbers a little better in some areas.

Still, it looks like you've got numbers high enough to feel with the 'butt dyno' test.

Very nice! Considering that the Mustang Dyno reads a bit lower on the HP, and the Dynapack creates a little more low end TQ (because of how it launches the car) that is very close to what you should see! Actually that makes me feel pretty good about the repeatability of our maps!

Having driven my 08 Sedan extensively with the PERRIN map Stage One; I can honestly say the butt dyno EASY registers the difference. The power above seems correct when compensated on an Mustang.

Glad you are excited with the new power! More parts, more tuning = more power! Enjoy!

wait.wait..

so
the new WRX makes about the same torque with 5-6lbs less boost and smaller turbine
as a basic flashed(stage 1) sti?

Peak torque maybe...but the area under the curve is still in the STI's favour. The stage 1 WRX is making about 180whp at redline and the STI is making about 230whp.

Don't just look at peak numbers, look at the entire RPM range.

You guys are making my wallet happy. I just might bypass the STI for the slightly underpowered WRX.

I think others might think the same thing. I have some pics going up today (I think) of our sedan on 19's as well as the new H&R Springs we carry and WOW does it transform the car. The eyeball is finally there. Plus having driven it with the new PERRIN mapped AP installed, Yikes! What a difference!

I looked on Perrin's website but I couldn't find a turboback + accessport with Perrin map? If I order a Perrin turboback exhaust and a Cobb AP off your website, will the AP come with this new map and also be tax free? I have a stock 2006 WRX.

:fingers crossed:

Thanks!

I would really love to see another '08 on your dyno to see if this was just a strange anomaly, or if Subaru really is underrating the WRX. If that's the case, I'll be going to the dealership tomorrow to pick up a new WRX and looking for Perrin parts to add to it.

Do you guys have pictures up of the sedan? I found the hatch project, but wasn't sure if there were any of the sedan.

EDIT: Is there even a sedan build?

Just for fun I thought I'd share my results with this map...

My car 273/219 today. I've not dyno'ed it stock so I'm not sure what it was before the upgrades... sorry. It's also got an AVO TMIC and cat-back.

At 16.5 PSI it's a bit more aggressive than the Stage 1 map that came from Cobb.

I'm really happy with it.
