Weight of the stock STi forged BBS wheel?
Hi everyone,
Anyone know the weight of the factory stock STi's forged aluminum BBS wheel? Either the weight of the wheel alone or the combine weight of the wheel and tire would be great. I am planning ahead to look for aftermarket wheel and tire combo that are lighter then stock, which I think is not easy to do. Thanks ahead

I know there was an earlier thread where someone weight the stock wheel tire como and came up with between 16 & 17# for the wheel. Do a thread search on wheels.

it has been noted that the RE070's are "heavy" but they are also the tyre which STi specifically specified for the car, so perhaps they were on to something. I doubt you'd see similar performance from anything other than a Falken Azenis in a street tyre, but I don't know how light they are.
look for the "what wheels fit over the Brembos" thread (it's semi-active again so it's on the first couple of pages) for suggestions for wheels. if you're not looking to spend a fortune, check out the Rota SDR's. they're quite light (~15.5 lbs) and extremely reasonable priced ($650/set, shipped). there are likely Volk & SSR options which are as light but expect to pay 2-4x as much for them. Wheel/tire combo weighed in at 42lbs exactly. I've been told the REO70's come in at a heavy 27 lbs, but have no idea if that's correct. If so, the BBS STi forged wheels are very light.

Thanks a lot guys
I am interested in either the Racing Hart CP035 wheel or Volks Racing TE37 in size 18x8.5 for the Sti. Now I need to go see how much that wheel weight. |
