She was given it and since my last name was Carr she thought I would like it, her and I are still friends. I was un-packing in Pensacola and a neighbor/friend offered me $150 for it 12 years ago. When Ebay came around I tested the water on all sorts of items then I thought about that car he said he sold for $175. Turns out he sold it for $1000ish. It was an early 70's 440 pink with big rear tires and spoiler w/a GTO Judge look. His wife accidentally ratted him out and he would not fess-up saying she did not know what she was talking about, but she did. I let it go but he turned out to be a douche nozzle who did not like that I nicely questioned him about it. Truthfully I was happy that he threw out the $150 offer as it would have sat in the box for years or been lost over time.

i can see why you would be mad...and you dont need a friend like that because he wasnt a friend

was this what it looked like

youre like me as i like realism too...the stuff both made in the 70s was harsh...but good to know they are doing cool stuff today

Brad - my favorite matchbox (possibly hotwheels) when I was a kid was a white baja looking truck... like a baja prerunner. It had the spare tire under the rollbar and you could pop it out with enough force. The chassis was white... I think the bars were red and it has a red and blue/black livery... I think. Any ideas? It would have been 1984~1986 when I got it.

Hey, I bought that same one at VA Beach last week for my son! It was in a grocery store for $1. Good taste, KC.

I've got a HUGE MR2 Hotwheels collection and a smaller selection of other hotwheels, all on the card.

I've got all of these, most on the card AND loose. There's 1 or 2 that I don't have on both. I've got errors and Japanese versions of some and duplicates of others.

http://www.southtexasdiecast.com/hwg...amr2rally.html

This one, is rare and always is on eBay for $100. There are currently 3 MR2 Hotwheels that I don't have on the card, of those 3, 2 I have loose.

If I remember in the AM, I'll snap a pic of them and post them here.

Ugh. I wish I had been a miserable child and never unpackaged any of my Hot Wheels. I just looked up the prices to some of them and am astounded.

Snapped a quik pic this AM of some of my hotwheels collection. Sorry for the hugeness ofthe pics.

First, the MR2's on cards in their own display case. I've got a bunch more MR2's, 5 packs, long haulers, etc.

Yeah, it's an "error" which was expensive on eBay IIRC.

I picked up an 86 Monte Carlo the other day. I might snap a picture of my small collection in the near future.

Did you make that display case, or are they sold that way? Looking for a way to display mine still in packaging.

I came across it one day a few years ago at a Michael's Art's & Crafts, not sure if that's a local chain or not.

I can't find it on their site after a quick search, but it's near their framing section with the other display cases. IIRC I paid $20 for each one.

This is where they should be on their site, but it's not:

I've always been into MR2's (obviously) and I've had 4 of them. I'll get another one some day, so in the meantime, the hotwheels will do. I need to get the last 2-3(well, actually 4-5 now that I think of it) on the card so the collection is "complete" with all the carded ones.

I'll see if I can get ALL my hotwheels, loose, carded and other together in 1 pic. My 6 yr old nephew hates coming over since my toy cars aren't to be played with, at least not most of them.

Oh, and in case you can't tell, these are at the landing of the stairs going into the basement. . .somehow the wife doesn't think these are worthy of being displayed anywhere else, WTF? hahahahaha

Yeah, garage is man cave and hopefully, the basement, when finished, will be part home theatre and part man cave (and part storage)

Lesney Matchbox cars were my fav. A few years ago, I went on a buying spree and bought all the old ones I could remember having in addition to a few others. My fav is the red one on the far left. I'm looking for a blue one now.
