How do you guys feel about a Groundcontrol + Koni shock combo setup? Would save around $600 or more on this setup and essentially is the same thing as a kit like Tein. Of course i'd get some good spring rates.

I don't know the importancy of needing those fancy pillowball upper mounts, and plates and such, any ideas?

Default upper mounts and plates...

Jay,
the factory ones are not as tunable or adjustable.
then after these strut tower braces,
then sway bars and end links.

Yeah I know they aren't adjustable, but later down the road I could pick up a set of Cusco plates for the tops.. and that should work fine..

The Big Brown Truck just dropped off the springs and endlinks.

We Officially have a "spring thing" going Saturday.

Still no word on the replacement :monkey:

Jay - Lets see how changing the springs on my wagon rides with stock struts. MRT and Whiteline make several types of springs in the 2 - 300 range.

Default engine and tranny mounts..

Well found the post that had the mounts in it...

Group N STi Engine & Trans Mount
These greatly limit the movement of the engine and gearbox, especially during times of hard on/off throttle. This is an essential item when upgrading engine performance or using the car in a competitive environment. Available to fit both Impreza body styles in 5 or 6 speed.
WRX: $155.75
2.5 RS: $155.75

one of these days...

Hmm, mow some yards for WRX money? I think you're onto something there. We should start our own company so we can support our habits.

Picked up the EGT from the apt. office today, looks nice. I put it in my dash already to see how it looks and I like it so much more than having that big blank spot.

Shaun - you're sure I don't need to buy any hardware tidbits to be able to tap that into the manifold?

Hmm, that's weird - the email notification I got said Andrew replied to this thread, but when I brought it up it was Ben's reply. Wassup w/ dat? (Okay, I'm just post whoring now)

I guess maybe I don't need any extra parts since it comes with a 1/8" NPT fitting in the kit. It says to use a 1amp protected power supply. What did you guys do for power for Rich's temperature module, and where did you mount it? I've got power for the gauge light already.

Alright that sounds good to me. Before the WRX, I had 5Zigen springs over my stock struts.. it rode fine.. but the stock struts were starting to make noises before I got rid of her. But the reason I mentioned Ground Controls is that there's a local guy here in Jax with a brand new set of Groundcontrols for the WRX Sedan... for $250. Which is a good deal as they are around $400 brand new.

So if I don't get these Groundcontrols, any other sedan owners be interested? Lemme know.

Shaun, what can I bring as far as food/drinks to the party, thanks!

Jay - Food and beer is covered, brings a bag of chips. Which type of ground controls, the coil-over or springs on the stock strut or something different? Is LeAnn joining us?

Dave - Bring the O2 socket - If it's an Autometer Pyro Kit, you don't need anything. We've been using the cig lighter supply line, if memory serves it's on a 20A line. If you want to limit the amps, pick up an inline fuse.

Ben - We will need the "Big" torque wrench as early as possible. Could you drop if off tonight?

Ben will be a little late, about the same time as Jay.

Anyone have a big torque wrench, incase Ben is really late?

Spring compressor is in hand, sure like AutoZone.

1000 am we start, don't worry about being late, I'll be working and brinking

No need, I'll bring my big ol' torque wrench. Goes up to 150 lbs.

Just picked up a 2A fuse from Ace Hardware, good to go for tomorrow.

Alrighty, chips it is then.

Shaun, the Ground Controls are just adjustable springs that go over the stock shock.

I think i'll blow all of my cash on all the Cusco bars.. hehe that would be nuts, but hey i'm psycho.

Hey someone go pick up LeAnn so she can hang out with us!

Hey Shaun, don't get started too early on those springs, we've got to get a 'before' pic so we can compare before and after to see just how much it dropped.

Okay, here comes the post event wrap-up. Springs installed great, 2 turbo timers, Perrin adjustable short shifter, 2 EGT gauges, and 1 pair of rear sway bar end links.

My EGT's: cruising down 103rd in 4th gear I was seeing about 1350F. I wasn't expecting that. Did a strong pull onto 295 up to 70mph and only hit 1400F max, that was nice. Cruising at 70mph - 1350 and cruising at 60mph 1300. Did a pull up the JTB intracoastal bridge (uphill run) from 60 to 70mph in 5th and only hit 1400F. My conclusion, Stage 0 runs nice and cool.
<-see?

Okay, now here comes a bunch of pics. I didn't get the after pic of Shaun's springs.

I'll start with the lineup pic from last meet that I was too lazy to post.

Here's the difference between stock springs and the whitelines. These are front springs:

Here's where we tapped for our EGT probes. Fit nicely, didn't have to hack the heat shield at all:

And now that you have an idea what we're looking at, here's a different angle on the probe. (The rear of the car is the left side of the pic):
