Are '02 WRX rear CV axles the same on sedan and wagons?
Does anyone know if the rear CV axles on 02 WRX wagons is the same part as sedans? Most parts websites don't specify and just say sedan.

we don't know where you live since your profile isn't filled out.
Rockauto.com shows no difference in the rear. However, Oreillyauto/Autozone/advance Auto all show the rear of the wagon is different. The FRONT is 10mm wider on the sedan for 100% sure. The rear there is debate. There are numerous posts about no difference in the rear. The problem is how to measure a flexible CV joint. I believe my '04 Wagon technically has what are considered "sedan axles", which on paper are longer/wider. almost 30K miles no issues. ~Rob |

Just to keep these questions in one place, but I have a spare front OEM cv from a 02 sedan wrx and was wondering if anyone has put a front sedan axle on a 02 wagon? is this what you did TXwrxWagon? I have a shake on the steering wheel at hwy speeds and there is 1 aftermarket axle that I would like to try and eliminate this shake. I have already had the car aligned and tires balanced.
Edit: Also this would be a sedan 02 manual axle going to an automatic 02 wagon if that makes a difference. |

Wagon track is narrower front and rear. The front axles are 11mm longer on the sedan and the rear are 10mm longer. This is straight out of the service manual.
Any debate would be whether it is ok to keep the wagon axles while going to sedan control arms/lateral links. Seems to be fine, but you might pop axles out of the diffs. Using a sedan axle on a wagon I wouldn't recommend. You could bottom out and bind up the cv. |
