I ran out of drawers/room in my tool box, so it was time to "add-on" again. When I bought my original box I thought it would be large enough forever. Hopefully this is the LAST "add-on" of my lifetime. We might have to run a "service special" to help pay for this upgrade.

I was hearing comments from the peanut gallery about the "chicken strip" on the tires of the shop Forester. I commute 80 miles a day, thats my excuse and I am sticking to it. So, I decided to let a little air out of the tires and go for some "spirited" driving. The chicken strip is now gone... and I suppose the chassis bracing has worked as intended... but damn, windshields can get expensive if you have to replace them every time you have a little fun.

Working on some new offerings at the shop for our customers. We may soon have a new tuning option to offer along with the current Delicious Tuning tunes. Usually options are a good thing.

Hint...

It is with a heavy heart and a lump in my throat that I say goodbye to my best friend and partner in crime for the past 13 years. Our original shop mascot has left us. Unfortunately it was far too soon to leave and an unnatural exit.

You will always be loved, remembered and missed. You will always be my GOOD BOY and my BUD.

RIP "Mr." Mario.

Back to cars... We had a previously prepped 2015 STi on the dyno today. ETS intake, Invidia catted down pipe, ETS cat back exhaust, Cobb 1050x injectors, AEM/Cobb fuel pump, Cobb Flex Fuel kit, stock clutch.

The car made some decent power with the assistance of a Delicious Tuning map provided by Master Tuner Bill Knose of Delicious Tuning.

Another busy day at the shop. Another car on the dyno today getting a Flex Fuel tune from Delicious Tuning. Pump gas tune was completed and on the third pull on e85 the (customer supplied) DW65c burnt out. We will be swapping the pump out tomorrow and hopefully finishing the tune so the customer can have the car back for the weekend.

Performed a little maintenance and upgrades on a 2013 BRZ today. It was time for the 60k service, which we took care of. We also installed some new chassis bracing, sway bars and links. Lots of Cusco blue under the car now, along with a set of Whiteline end links.

Delicious Tuning Flex Fuel kit is $595. Cost of pump and injectors depends on brand chosen. Custom dyno Flex Fuel tune by Bill Knose (owner of Delicious Tuning) is $995.

FA20 out of a 2015 BRZ almost ready to drop back in the car. Finish up this one and then I have an EJ255 to drop back in a WRX. Should have that engine ready to go by Wed. Had another FA20 dropped off this morning to have the engine pulled and I have a 2012 STi scheduled to be dropped off this week to have the engine pulled (lifted heads). Possibly another 06 WRX with lifted heads getting dropped off this week too. Two on deck, two more waiting and possibly a third. The engine "storm" continues.

A crank and rod bearing from an FA20 recently disassembled. Best I can say is a HEAVY pulsation ripped the bearings apart. There are times when a diagnosis can not be performed of the cause/effect, because the remaining parts are so badly damaged. This damage happened in less than 3000 miles. This could be severe "abuse" from multiple points; tune, fuel used, ambient conditions, environment, etc.

For example: if a tune is perfect but air temp rises dramatically due to an undersized inter cooler or not enough air flow over the inter cooler core, this type of damage could occur. If air temps were perfect and the tune was perfect but fuel was of a poor grade, or the fuel pressure dropped this type of damage could occur. This type of damage could result from any number of combinations.

Keep in mind that with supercharged FA20's (BRZ/FRS) the intake air temp sensor is many times before the super charger and the inter cooler.

For anyone unfamiliar or confused by some of the replies to my previous post here is a pic of the Innovate/Sprintex S/C kit (non-inter cooled) on a 2013 FRS here at the shop today.

This kit uses the OEM intake air temp sensor which is is located right after the air filter but before the supercharger. So, air temp is not taken after the air has been compressed. The intake temps could be extreme without knowing.

Another 2012 STi in for some major work. We will be rebuilding/upgrading the engine, upgrading the turbo, upgrading the fueling, upgrading the clutch and adding some chassis bracing. Yes, the car will need to be re-tuned with the new modifications.

Began work on the car today. The first Cusco chassis brace is installed.

More chassis bracing added to the 2012 STi today. This part of the project is now complete. Next week we pull the engine. Hope you all have an excellent weekend.

One of, if not the worst assembled FA20 engines I have come across yet. For starters, both valve covers are broken. One has a crack that looks suspiciously like a rocker flipped, the other has a "wad" of silicone I have zero explanation for except that they dropped the cover on the floor breaking it and used the silicone to "seal" it rather than replace it. Not to mention the silicone oozing from everywhere, the scored camshafts, the broken cam gears, the oil pump that is 50% worn and more. The owner had no idea any of this was there. The engine lasted less than 4000 miles. Hmmm...

This newly released item showed up at the shop today. These are currently not stocked in the US and are special order from Japan. But a BIG THANK YOU to AVO Japan for the opportunity to get our hands on this first and review/test it. If interested we can certainly supply these to our customers. Retail price is $399, regular Infamous Performance price is $360.

AVO Silicone Intake Pipe Wire Reinforced
Red P/No: S7W15841AREDJ
Blue P/No: S7W15841ABLUJ
Black P/No: S7W15841ABLKJ

AVO`s Silicone wire reinforced intake pipes are world renowned in the Subaru community for being the largest and strongest in the market. We made no exceptions on the FA20, it`s Unique Registered Pattern Design has integrated the BOV mount direct to the turbo to stop issues with the stock plastic pipe breaking. T he AVO FA20 intake pipe goes from the front of the turbocharger all the way to the air box with no joints and no interruption in flow to the turbocharger. This intake pipe can be used with the stock turbo and also with the AVO Turbo Kit.

A 2012 WRX freshly rebuilt (it had lifted the heads) and ready for pick up. CP Pistons, King bearings, H Beam Rods, new STi heat treated crank, 1/2" ARP head studs, 11mm STi oil pump, JE Proseal gaskets, etc. A new Koyo Racing radiator too. Should handle the e85 power without issue now.

Some of the internals from the previously mentioned FA20. Cams are scored and piston is worn.

While performing an oil change on the shop Forester today (hard to believe we already have over 17k on the new engine) we added a Cusco Type 1 front power brace. A Type 2 brace will not fit until/unless we install a custom catless header.
