![]() Read back several pages for my comments on flashing with cobb's off the shelf maps.
The stock tune is HORRIBLE. That read's HORRIBLE in english. It's bad for you, bad for your car, and bad for me when I sleep at night. It has a 2 second delay for open/closed loop transition, which when you romp on it and build boost quickly, means that you run LEAN until it goes into open loop and lowers the AF/R. You are more then welcome to go through ALL the effort I and many others have done to end up proving me right, or you can just take my and many others words for it (you read it on the internet, duh?). FLASH STAGE 1. I did it within 1hr after picking up my car. 1st time I built boost I nearly puked at the fueling and surging and nonsense. The end. |

![]() Logically why would that make sense if stage 1 tune is better than the factory? Wouldn't you want to break the motor in under more ideal running conditions?
It probably won't make much difference either way since you don't build boost much during the break in. But I wouldn't be afraid to flash after rolling it off the lot. |

![]() Once you drive the car you'll understand that "not building boost" is simply not an option.
This isn't a 60mm turbo, it will spool as you daily drive around trying to impersonate a 90yr old without her glasses, nothing you can do about that. What you can do is prevent your ECU from IMPROPERLY FUELING while this is happening. |

![]() Oh I completely understood what you were saying, which is why I fashioned the response I did.
See, quick throttle transitions and aggressive driving are not what makes the oem tunes doo doo ability shine. It needs only input from it's sensors, to exhibit it's horrible calculations and foul everything up. You'll be feeding it plenty of said input regardless of how you drive. Oh and everyone seems to think that there are no other cars on the road that WILL influence how you drive yours. Everyone babies their car, until some idiot floors it when you pull out and to avoid being rear ended you have to GO SON GO. That is just one example, but **** happens you will need to ask your car to answer you at least 20 times in the first 200 miles let alone 1000. Better to be prepared. |

![]() I wish, i'm in atlanta and this is my daily driver.
Breaking the car in properly was easy, not collecting 20 felony assault charges before I got to work was the challenge. |

![]() Thanks for the responses. Your background in understanding how the ecu works is very useful, just goin back in forth with you around a few threads I've learned quiet a bit and honestly you saved me from making a couple of mistakes with a brand new car.
Cheers. Now to keep waiting... |

![]() I can't either but all this madness about Gunpocalypse is driving the ammo price insanely high, HARD to find. The gun is just very hard to enjoy now. I only have about 200 rounds left and it hurts me every time I pull the trigger. I wish they would make up their mind already and either ban or not ban the damn thing. May be I should sell my Barretta instead since I got a 1911 now.

I'm a subienoobie, so this may sound like a retarded question. Please don't flame, I'll set myself on fire ![]() Could I do a stage 1 flash with no modifications? I don't want to do the whole Intake/Exhaust etc. I didn't plan on doing anything performance wise; however, by the sound of it, it seems like the stage 1 ecu tune is "Better" for the longevity of my car. Anyone else with knowledge on this, feel free to chime in ![]() |

![]() Run normal 91 or 93 octane if you have it in your area. Monitor your boost levels and make sure your within target on the map notes.
Trust me the stock OTS cobb maps are very safe and conservative. |
