Default 2018 STI Interiors

Hey guys,

It seems like we talk a lot about the exterior changes to the 2018 STIs, but not much about the interior.

Would some of you be willing to post up pictures of the interiors of your 2018 cars? Specifically of the various seat options, and maybe of the radio/headunit options?

Thanks in advance, I appreciate it.

I like the interior a lot more than my 2016 including the bigger screen in the center above the vents but I do like the fog light bezels of my 2016. Not a fan of the 19 inch wheels but I do like the upgraded rotors.

Not much has changed and the Recaro seats that are in there now (Limited) look suspiciously like the regular seats with a Recaro badge on them. The interior is still pretty low rent and won't see a refresh until the next model.

I noticed that, that was the biggest thing I wanted to compare

Side bolsters are more pronounced but the seat cushion is pretty well identical so they are kind of 1/2 Recaro seats.

I am reading this as "not worth the premium for a daily driver"

I wish the 2018+ multifunction display was a direct plug-n-play but from what I've read there's more wiring modification that needs to be done to make it work. That, and the screen itself is almost $500...even if someone ends up making a harness for it, that's a lot of money to plop down on just a nicer screen that shows the same information.

I do like that the screen hood is now leather with red stitching. I'll be upgrading to the same (JDM hood) eventually, it's only about $75.

I have a 2016 sti and have swapped out some 2018 interior parts because I liked the look way better after seeing it in person. I changed out the gauge hood, shifter bezel, and climate control knobs. In my opinion they look much cleaner. I also installed an aftermarket stereo. I would like to do the multi function display if I can find the right price but it's not neat the top of my list. Also was looking into doing the rear armrest / rear seat.

I wish I could remove that stupid screen and put in a true analog boost gauge. Who wants to view that other stuff rather than a boost gauge anyway?

I remember the "basic" praise the current interior got for it's improvement over prior gens. And now we are back to "low rent". When the next gen comes out, I wonder if I can create a gauge of how long "wow, that is nice" turns into "low rent".

I may be in the minority, but I feel like most of the 2017+ Impreza interior feels cheaper than the previous gen. The big plastic center console feels pretty cheap when you touch it and some of the door panel plastics feel worse than the previous one. The seats are more comfortable at least though.

I feel like they put most of their money into the digital readouts on the dashboard and center screen thing. Which was definitely needed considering the awful blocky digital display from the previous gen. Especially that godawful fuel readout...

That being said, the 2008-2011 Impreza interior was easily the worst so I can see why the 2012 was a welcome change - the GC and GD interiors were better than that garbage.

I do, since you know, the A/C controls show up there. Why don't you just get an analog boost gauge? I don't see anything wrong with the electronic one in there.

well isn't the AC stuff on a separate portion of the screen?
I'm not even sure now actually, but I thought it was two different screens side by side.

I'm not adding another boost gauge when there's one right there. It's in a great spot, personally I couldn't care less about any of those other screen displays, I never look at them.
I'm glad the boost gauge is at least a digital replica of an analog gauge, but it would just be way cooler if it was a big fat old school analog gauge right up there.

2015-2017 is two separate displays. 2018 has one larger display that displays all the same gauges (but redesigned) as the 2015-2017, but also displays the climate controls.

I can't believe Subaru hasn't standardized on pushbutton start. Kind if jarring to see a key in the ignition switch in a relatively new car.

Jarring? Really? Seeing keys triggers you?

It felt outdated when I owned my 2013 STI so yes.

Could you share the part number for the gauge hood and shifter bezel as well? Looks great!

I wished they could have kept the tacho in the center. What's the point to move the tacho aside as a sports car?
