I'm sure my fogs don't bother anybody. They are properly aimed, they have a yellow Lamin-X film on them, and I'm running the OEM bulbs rather than brighter upgraded bulbs.

I have always left my fogs on. Personally, I like the look, and the extra light. I rarely ever use my high beams. Unless I'm in a dark, heavily wooded area. Deer love running into cars here in PA.

Science and facts would indicate that the extra light in the near field from fog lights reduces your distance vision, which is important for not crashing.

The deer here usually just freeze if your brights are on. Better off with lowbeams.

I'm sorry, but I have to throw a flag on the field. I understand what you're saying, but have you seen the way the OEM fogs, when properly aimed, throw their light? The light they add is quite dim, and is aimed really close to the front bumper of the car. I can barely tell the difference between when they're on and off, unless I'm turning them on and off and looking for the change deliberately.

When I drive, my eyes are looking far down the road. I'm sure if I put super-bright HID bulbs in my fog light housings, your point would be valid. But in the OEM configuration (especially with the yellow film and low aim), I really don't believe that my distance vision is affected. I've had my driver's license for 32 years, and have never had an accident. I'm not worried about fog lights causing me to crash.

Wow this turned into a debate. As for the original question of keeping fogs on at all times I am not sure. I have heard of older models where you splice some wires under steering column with the parking lights. I would assume to give the fog relay a constant signal when any lights are on. As for illegal to have fogs on with highs I'm not sure on that either but why would that be a law, after all you should not have brights on while in traffic to start with.

Yeah, these factory fogs are pretty useless. PSX24W. Really? My fogs on my Si were the same size, and used H11's. Now THOSE were fog lights.

I wouldn't call them useless. My purpose for having them on so frequently is so that cars/pedestrians/bikers/whatever can see me more easily when I'm approaching them. Besides, fogs are supposed to be aimed close to the car so that they fill in the void between your front bumper and where your headlights first hit the road. So they're not intended to throw light a great distance, and when they do it's because they're aimed incorrectly.

I understand that. Just saying that the bulbs we have for low beams were what were in my fogs in my Si. The light output on those was great. The PSX24W is essentially a big marker light. It's basically just fill light. It does help, yes, but it's not like it's extraordinary. I use mine all the time, but I currently just have amber LED's in mine. So they're solely cosmetic.

The only time I use my high beam is when I see someone else using high beam on me.

^^ Looks nice. How did you mask off the tires (or did you use the "card technique"?)? How many coats did you do? How many cans did it require?

Please let us know how well it holds up on a wheel installation.

I didn't mask the tires. If you use tire shine before it peels off a little easier. I would say I used about 1 1/2 cans doing 6 coats on the front and 5 on the back. Although I did the back rims last and was more comfortable doing heavier coats so they should be about equal

I don't believe they all are. Just in the gauges, and the top display / radio screen. The rest look like halogen.

Conveniently, my fog light went out. I pulled it out and wiggled it around. There is a loose connection in the connector. I could have it repaired under warranty, but they're so slow.

Anyone know how to rewire these things?

I believe I have a bad connection in the passenger side high beam. Could be a bad bulb, but it goes in and out when activated. Didn't know they could fix a connection..

Do those ones actually throw a foglight pattern? These existing ones certainly don't do anything to that effect.

MS Paint of what I'm talking about

yes, pretty cheap too, i think with the pigtails they cost me 100 for the set. there is a thread on them somewhere.

i just wish someone would figure out how to run the fogs indepentantly of the low beams, so when the conditions allow I can run fogs only....

i think soon, after I hit 36k I will be ordering some relays from danielsternlighting and rewiring my lights as I did on my buick, makes a huge difference, I might be able to run the fogs indepentantly that way, not sure yet. But before I do that, i need to measure the voltage at the socket, if it is over 13v I won't do it, but in the case of my buick at the socket it was 11.5..

It's possible to run fogs only doing the drl conversion I talk about about 4 pages back on thread. If fogs are acting as drl and you turn headlights to "off" the drl will kick in and since you have rewired it to work on fogs that's all that's on.
