This happened while doing a 3-point turn, I backed into an ever so slightly raised driveway and the flap took the full weight of the car and busted through
My front flapatax mud flap on the driver side was so tough, it aided in keeping my car stuck in the snow. Not a good thing, I know. Knarled up my fender not too bad. Im on running Rally Armor Basics in the rear now.

Metal clips and washers are a bad idea, mmk? There's a reason the flaps that have R&D behind them use plastic.

Washers help spread the force of the bolt being tightened down. The wider the washer, the more area your screw is holding down. The metal clips help keep the mudflap on. Duh right? But I recent got stuck in the snow and I run the flapatax mudflaps on the front, rally armor basics in the rear. If it wasnt for the clips and washers i put on there, i might have done more damage to my car. If there wasn't any clips or washers who knos what would have happened. Get your clips and washers at Ace hardware. In case you dont know the sizes you need, the people who work there have a good idea. Food for thought.

The plastic hardware is designed to release the flap preventing damage to the gender or bumper. I've backed over a flap twice..once with metal hardware (necessitating a new fender) and once with the proper hardware (just had to put it back on)

I used to have a supplier when I worked with one of the mudflap companies. I think rallyarmor sells hardware if you can provide proof of purchase.

Good question. I like the idea of the plastic hardware. But if it isnt readily available at a hardware store, Ill do it old school with metal hardware.

It's available both locally and online if you know where to look and what to call it. The fasteners RA and DRT uses are all off the shelf pieces.

Okay, since you are suggesting this, then why dont you tell us so when we go looking for the plastic hardware, we know what to call it? Tell us where to being finding it? When I made my suggestion, I told everybody to go to ACE hardware.

Last time I was at ACE I saw plastic clips that looked similar to the ones that come with the RA's (if that's the hardware you are talking about). Probably not the exact match, but looks like they work the same.

Just a thought. I bet if you use plastic "Christmas tree" plugs that you can get anywhere, in the right size, and cram them into one of the ace hardware metal threaded clips it would hold real good and break away if necessary.

I like that idea, I might have a pack of those laying around. I'll give them a shot before something bad happens! Thanks for the clever idea

Got mine installed a few weeks ago, have no idea why I didnt pull the trigger sooner. I love these things...

Added some license plate screw covers on the tops of the nasty silver hardware. Just gives it a cleaner look I guess.

Check it.
