I have a couple things to update here on my XTI. I've been working on the fueling/ pump supply side a bit and I think I have it pretty wired (haha, pun intended!). After much thought, research and discussions with friends and a couple tuners, I decided to buy the Kenne Bell Boost a Pump, single 40 amp 17.5 volt version.

When I was figuring out the install and what I needed for parts, i decided to pull all new 10 gauge wire both power and ground back to the pump area. I established a common ground point for all the fuel pump components and brought the power to my 40 amp relay. I mounted the BAP just behind the pump access cover and wired the BAP in adding another 30 amp fuse between the BAP and the pump to further protect the pump.

It all works well and I'm using the 3.5psi Hobbs switch mounted on my vacuum block to turn on the BAP. I've run some AFR logs now under boost to see how the BAP is affecting my fueling and it is enriching the mixture of course and it's dependent on where I set the potentiometer. The BAP does work and it seems to work well, so my strategy is to find a medium setting maybe a bit more than half way between 13.9V (battery voltage) and the BAP max. 17.5V. My theory on middle ground setting is this; as long as the pump has the voltage it needs to keep my ID1300's in the mid 90's IDC at my <600whp then we can adjust the fuel trims to work with that FP voltage and then I will have a little fine fuel tuning adjustment with the BAP to account for some fuel (E85, ethanol content) and temperature variance when the car is pushed hard.

Now that I have the BAP wired in I am going to tweak the wiring back at the pump area. I bought a 4 fuse block with a cover and it will replace the inline fuses all in one. I also bought 2 more new 40 amp relays, relay sockets and I'm going to wire them in together for redundancy. The last bit I'm going to update is the wiring into the pump. I bought a 2 wire ATL bulkhead fitting and a MSD Deutsch, 12 gauge, 2 wire W/P connector. I am going to cut out the 16 gauge power and ground wire from the stock fuel pump connector and wiring leaving the fuel level and temp sensors as is. I am then going to install the new bulkhead fitting in the top of the pump carrier and wire in the new connector, running 12 gauge wire to the pump from the BAP and common ground. I will take pics of it all as I am doing this and after it's completed.

I also added a Perrin 2 gauge steering column pod with AEM fuel pressure and boost gauges. I had to install the Perrin pod backwards because of clearance issues with the Fozzy oem gauge bezel and steering column cover but it looks good. I'll tweak it some to make it look like it's supposed to be installed this way! I'll take pics of this as well!

I was down state visiting a buddy and then trail riding with some buds over the weekend. On the way home today I stopped at Layvon's house to check out his new pad, work shop and the progress on his car. He's got a nice place and a sweat workshop with tons of room and heat!

We also took the XTI out to his local closed circuit time trial course, it's pretty nice and out in the middle of nowhere so you can get hectic and not offend anyone or the man! I let Layvon drive the XTI and I think he was favorably impressed with it's performance and drive-ability!

Yeah we'll see how it works out after this winter's mods. I sure hope that AEM makes a PnP Subaru harness for the Infinity soon. When they do that's the route I will go. Until then it's the stock ECU and the Cobb AP.

Here's a bit of fuel pump/ BAP wiring I've been working on.

The Walbro 465 is rated to 20 amps max and on my 06 FXT the pump wiring is 16 gauge which has at best a 15 amp capacity. I'm going to replace it with 12 gauge wire for a little overkill and run it through a new bulkhead fitting and 2 wire MSD connector.

I've installed a KB BAP to feed the Wally 465 pump and as i mentioned, give my self some minor fuel trim adjustment at boost. Here's what I did and am in the process of completing. I ran 10 gauge power and ground from the battery all the way back to the pump area with a 30 amp fuse very close to the battery. I installed the BAP with the one 40 amp relay that I had from my (free DW pump rewire kit) and fused it on the supply side as well out feed side to the pump. I wired it through the oem wire to the pump which in my cars case is 16 gauge.

It's working fine on my car but I don't trust or like the 16 gauge and with all the fuses I installed as well as wanting redundancy with 2 relays and the need to clean it all up made me step back and redesign the BAP/ fuel pump wiring.

I recycled the chassis from an old network router and am using it to house the dual Beuler BU-504M-0000 relays, a 4 fuse block and the common ground point. I'll then bring the battery wires into this unit, the power out to the BAP, power in from the BAP, ground in from the BAP, 12 gauge power out to the pump, 12 gauge ground in from the pump and 14 gauge trigger wire (white) to the oem FPC/ relay.

Here's a photo of what I fab'd up to house this and keep it all neat and stealth. In this photo I have not drilled the heat-sink chassis yet to mount the relays/ ground wires, fuse block and I will cut out the grey top cover for access to the fuse block cover. All of the wiring and relays will be hidden inside this unit with just black flex conduit outside of this from the battery, between the BAP and this and to the pump wiring grommet.


The last components are the bulkhead fitting and the MSD connector for the 12 gauge wiring to the pump itself.

Here's some shots of my new Plug n Play KB BAP Control Module installed in the XTI. It contains dual relays, 4 fuse block, common fuel pump ground, heat sink and cover all in one and cleans up the messy 10, 12 and 14 gauge wiring. I have it soft mounted with heavy Velco to the top of the fuel pump hatch cover.

I also carved out the foam rear hatch false floor that hides it all and muffles the noise.

A VF swapped FXT is not lame at all! Mine was in that state for 3 1/2 years. My last iteration as a VF or stg 2+ Forester STI=XTI had the Killer B header, EWG and it was a frickin rocket. Junior tuned it and it made 360whp/ 450wtq on E85! The stock STI clutch hated that torque partly because it made it by 3100.

My goal always with my XTI is to have quiet/ understated but slightly mean looks. It now has 20% tint on all 7 windows, I added the tint to the front drivers and passenger windows in October.

I toyed with doing a rotated set up but decided to stay stock location for simplicity sake and to be stealth! So far I think it's worked out pretty well and make a bit more power than I thought it would and it should make even more power by next spring!

This winter it's going to get a few simple power mods and some cosmetic and lighting mods. I'm pulling the headlights, tail lights, front and rear bumpers off. The headlights are getting Morimoto dual H1 projectors and blackened surrounds. The taillights are getting the blackened sport treatment and LED in all the front and rear marker light, turn brake etc... The front bumper is getting a slight mod for the new fogs and both front and rear bumper cover are getting re-painted.

Well we have a crap load of snow here in N. Michigan so the XTI is tucked away for the winter. It may make it out of the garage on dry sunny days with no salt or crap on the roads!

I hate snow, but sincei got my Wrx I love after a fresh storm going out and having fun in the snow. That's as much as I can say without getting in trouble on here.

No worries, it's not everyone's cup of tea but I tell people if you don't like snow move out of the snow area/ belts!

I actually like snow, a lot and ski like a madman when I have time. I was a ski rep and I ski all disciplines of Nordic, classic, telemark, backcountry, skate, in area skiing and ski mountaineering!! "Skiing is life", Otto Schniebs.

I decided a few years back that the XTI was done with winters in Michigan, partlly because of the power it's making, wheel/ tires options after the STI drive-line swap and all the dough I have in it. My Tundra gets all of the winter duty and we have a 2002 Forester in the stable!

Sorry guys but with the talk of snow today it just got me jonesing for some of it to ski and then my bud Scott from Telluride text'd me this shot today of some terrain we ski out there. Best November ever for him in almost 20 years.

I grew up in Detroit, I love cars but it's not just about cars!

Falling and or crashing is overrated and in some instances deadly, so we don't do that!

Kelly, The terrain in that pic is really pretty mellow compared to some of the other lines we ski out there. It's a bit steep but it's wide open and easy to navigate.

This aerial shot below is of the "Lowers of Bear Creek" my buddy Brad Foley shot. This ridge is 2500 vertical ft. high and we ski all of these avalanche paths but only when conditions warrant it! They do come into ski condition almost each season and I've had some absolutely epic days in here! A few years ago it was so good we would just do laps in here every day! It snowed constantly that winter so the avi conditions were very stable, just sluffs while you skied but no big slides. The best part is we can use the lifts at the area to access it all. So we don't have to climb it like we do with most backcountry skiing!

If you want to break any body parts this is a good place to do it if you let your mind wander and loose your focus! The cliff band in the middle is 300' high!!

You have awesome pump gas numbers, wish I'd have stayed tmic.

Was skiing the alps last year, now I'm in GA. I hit up the Smokey's in NC but they were a joke compared to what I'm used to. Wish I'd have taken more of the Blue ridge Parkway too. Sections were closed so there wasn't much traffic and it made for good times.

Thanks man! It made pretty good power at 22psi on 93. It spools a little slower at 4k in 3rd and 3700 in 4th but drives real well!

I love the Alps, skied the Swiss and Italian Alps. I want to go back and ski out of Chamonix. We are planning to go to Italy and Slovenia this next year!

Here's a shot of a The Finsteraarhorn that we skied on a mountaineering trip to the Bernese Alps. The Finsteraarhorn hut that sleep 140 people is in the lower right hand at the bottom of the red route line. The sun never came out that day, we started at 6am and we needed the sun to soften the face (4000' vert) so we could ski it but that wasn't in the cards that day. We had to retreat back down our up route (outlined). It was a very sketchy descent on breakable crust above huge crevasses at times!

Silly question but is the 1 3/4" internal or external diameter pipe you used to plumb the dump back to the supertrap? I want to plumb mine like that but want to make sure Im not too restrictive but do want to go overkill either. My Fozzy will only ever see 450whp if that. Did you ever run it on the dyno without the full dump, and, or supertrap on it?

Hey Ian, The 44mm MVR gate takes a 1.75" OD tube and I put a SuperTrapp SC Elite 443-2010 4" diameter, 2" inlet, 10" long tune-able muffler on the exhaust. It comes with 12 discs installed and I added 6 more discs to open it up some. The 4" ST muffler can flow up to 250HP of exhaust. So it's able to quiet the EWG exhaust without adding any real back pressure that would affect the performance of venting the gate to atmosphere.

How's Greg's R180 install going on his Foz? He shot me a note a couple weeks ago about it. You guys should pull his FXT FCM spacers even if you leave his FXT struts, which you could always re-valve with Koni inserts to give them more dampening. I would use the Swift FXT sport springs with the Koni revalved FXT struts.

I guess the only way to know for sure what it makes is getting it to the track and run some passes. We'll be ready this spring for some passes, full weight! I'll weigh it before hand.
